RE: Charter Amendment (Item #28) — Request for 2 -Week Continuance
I respectfully request that the Council consider a two-week continuance of Item #28
relating to Lease -Revenue Bonds/Certificates of Participation (COPs) and a possible
Newport Beach City Charter amendment. I believe that the delay of two weeks will
allow better clarity on this important issue as the Council and public discuss it.
As I make this request, it is my intention to work with the City Attorney's Office and the
City Clerk's Office to bring back to you possible Charter language on voter -approved
COP and lease -revenue bond debt on June 26t', 2018 paired with an adoptive
resolution so that the matter is ready to be placed on the November 2018 ballot, should
you choose to take that path.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
