DISCUSSION:
The existing fire station, constructed in 1957, included an apparatus bay sized to
accommodate equipment used in that era. Since then, fire engines and medical response
rolling equipment have grown in size to the extent that the new fire engine assigned to
this station no longer fit through the existing garage doors. Prior to the completion of this
project, the newest truck was parked under a tent when on station property. This project
concentrated on replacing the undersized apparatus bay as well as building a new
structure that met current building and seismic codes.
