However, staff members were concerned about
many of the parents who play tennis at the club.
Many of those parents called the center to repon they

Staff then simply told the children .. their moms
called and said they were OK.·· and left it up to the
parents to explain the incident at home to their

Down the block at the Step by Step center, at the
Eutbluff Elementary site. some children saw the ~flying low, but the adult instructors were more
affected than their youfl(__ wards.
Lead teachers Teri .Delaney and Gail Mitchell were just about to take a class of 3-and -4-ycar-okts
out to the playsround when they heard and saw the
plane fly over the school. only about SO feet off the
ground.
The children were quickly shuffled back into
class, but some of them continued to watch out the
wiDdow. Still, most of them djdn't actually see the
plane crash; they siml_>ly saw it disappear, followed by
a tunnel ofsmoke ris1na toward the sky, the teachers
said.

were outside and saw it all," Delaney said.
Delancy and Mitchell quietly worri~d them-
selves however, not knowing exactly where the crash

But statr memben nervously cou dn't stop
