Steven Wymer. 44, a New· port Beach resident and prop- erty owner, now faces up to 25 years in state prison on nine counts of racketeering, securi- ties fraud, bank fraud and mail fraud. Wymer has also been or· dered to pay more than $200 million in restitution to his vic- tims. To pay up, prosecutors said, \Yymer will be required to forf cit virtu:illy all of his assets. including nine homes, nine cars, boats and expensive art "-Ork and antiques. Wymer owned four pieces of property in Newport Beach, in- cluding two in the 2400 block of Santiago Drive and another in the 300 block of East 23rd Street. To finance his lavish lifestyle, federal prosecutors say. Wymer masterminded a massive fraud that involved shifting huge amounts of money paid by one client to cover "phantom prof- its" made by another.
