A 61-ycar-old rettttd teacher and professional
mu ician. For 20 yean, Und!on lau&ht m\lSic and
directed the band at Ensian Middle School in
Newport Beach. He retired last year and now
pur~ues his mu~ical interest full lime.
PLAYS IT ALL
Lindfors. a Cost:i Mesa resident, was 12 years old
when he began playi ng the drums, and by the time
he araduutcd high school, be says. "I could play
every instrument." A feat, Lindfors said, most
musicians arc unable to do.
Born in Mossach u ctts, Lindfors moved to
Glcndulc io 1942. His musical talents were
rewarded with a 'sehol:uship to OccidcotaJ Collc1c
1n Pasadena. He :ilso used those tuncf ul skills 10
earn c.\tra college funds.
"I formed my first b:ind when J was 13 called
The Sentimentalists," he recalled. "Then it was
The Knights in the 1950s, which~ the beginning
of rock nnd roll. In the 1960s, we were the
Generation Gap, and then the The Gringos. Jn the
1970s, ii was the Dig Band C.ommotion. And in the
1980s, we switched bock to playing Big Band music
with High Society."

Although Lindfors musicnl career includes

playing on Bobby Darin's "Splish Splash," writing
music for the Spike Jones television show and
plllying for five presidents, his most noteworthy

and when one or the ~hone players aot sick, I

"The trio just played Ut my hOU)e for the fun or
it, but our wives said we sounded so good we
should go out and play.'' Lindfors said. "I enjoy
both creating the music and hnving people enjoy ii.
One would be incomplete without the other."
Lindfors said the trio recently played in Irvine
and at Totally Coffee in Costa Me sa.

kindergarten teacher, learned she
had one or the more lethal forms
o r leulemia more than two years

when a sprained ankle failed to
heal.
The next five months tested her

and constant nausea while

where only visitors wearing masks

make it. You can't help but get
well without all these wonderful
people around you," she said.
