Breads, cereals, rice and pasta are an imporuant pan of our diet because they provide complex carbohydrates: the best source o f energy for our body. These foods are excellent sources of nutrients including prolein, S-vitamins, iron, zinc and Olher trace elements. Plus, they are an important source of two kinds of fi~-soluble and insoluble-both of which are lacking ln the Americ.an diet. Soluble fiber, found in white bread and rolls, pasta and bagels, may decrease cholesterol levels and help in preventing heart disease. Insoluble fiber, found in wheat bran and whole grain.S, play an important role in the dig~tive system. Many research tudies indicate it may play an imponant role m the prevention of certain cancer , uch as colon and breast cancer. And it helps keep us regular.
