Seflior fun house
tours begin al 50. The
first port of 1he trip is
so uneventful, aging
seems like child's play.
But stranae,

sea of wavy locks. This is just for
openers.
"How could this happen?" you cry in
alarm. "It must be an optical illusion.
Only an hour ago I was .SO and still
young." True, but by fun house time
you're already 60. Rolex watches don't
work here. Set1ing the clock to fASt
forward is another example of Mother
N:i1ure 's perverse sense of humor. A
senior year has eight Ouistmascs.
birthdnys, 3nd income tax payments.
No wonder it takes so much money to
retire.
Evef}one else on the tour is equally
indignant at the proliferation of bald
heads, and of bifocals as well, since the
riders regnrd themselves as tourists, not
permanent residents. By now they're
ready to demand a refund and ao
home, where o year is a year and not a
blur. One man complains his legs arc
creaking, and he's getting a stoop. An
irate 13dy accuses the fun house of
giving her varicose veins and
hemorrhoids. The &cndcman next to
her cups his car..and s.nap~pcak up,--
Mndam. You're mumbling."

they know of the thrills ahead. For
