Suianne said she:feh compelled
lO call the Huben in October
because, "I knew I could wive the
case."
Her bravado stems partly from
her success in finding her own
daughter, who she says, was
abducted by her ex-husband and
missing for 10 years.
"I ~ne>\\'. not knowing is the
worst thing a parent can go
through," said Suzanne. "l know
what it took to find my daughter .
.. ~ll the hours, the sacrifices I
made. My daughter is now home
with me, expecting a child."
~ After finding her daughter, she
says she worked as an investigator
for a Huntington Beach-area firm
run by a former police officer for
several years and pursued many
missing persons cases -only one
of-which has remained unsolved.
The investigator said she,tis
pursuing the case with the idea
that Denise is still alive and is not
discounting any theories. She even
·believes there is the "slim
possibility" that the young woman .
was abducted because oC her
beauty and sent out of the country
for sale in a white slavery ring.

She would not identify or describe
the witness. She dcacribed the
suspect as a man in his late 20s

when they "brush him off."
Boylan said he has talked with
Suzanne bul that she had not ,

Boylan said his detectives are
willing to share some information
and evidence with her, but do not

"We're not willing to do artything
to jeopardize the'C4se," he said.
Police detectives have gi'<en
little credence lo the work of past
private investigators who got
involved with the case. One
investigator hired by the Hubers
early on came up with a theory
thal the young brunette was
abducted and probably killed by
acquaintances in the rock music
industry.
. Police dete(ctives said there was
no hard evidence to support this
and the private eye himself later
abandoned the case.
Partly because of that
disappointing experience, lone
Huber, Denise's mother, also has
adopted a guarded attitude about
private investigators. "It's usually

her husband, Denni~. plans to

To Clausen, Owen said: "You've

Despite his request for the max-
