Caicedo then shot himself with the fallen officer's .45-ca liber service pistol, according lo preliminary data re- lc:ised Thurl>day by the Orange County Di!>trict A ttorney's offi ce. A final reporl will await the re- su lls of l:ib and coroner's tests. No other su!>pccts are believed to have been involved in the March 12 in- cident, which left Caicedo dead and Henry in critical condition. Henry died at Hoag Hospital Thursday morning. "Tests will not change the .facts which indicated that Officer Henry's fatal head wound was from Caicedo's .38 revolve r and Carlos Caicedo's death is consis- tent with a self-i nnictcd wou nd," said Supervbing Deputy District Attorney Chris Evans in a pre- pared !>tatcment. Officers speculate that a strug- gle took place bel\veen l lenry and Caicedo, \\hose blood alcohol level was .16. Whether the officer inter- rupted Caiccdo's suicide attempt has not been determi ned and the district attorney's investigation "has not established that Caicedo and Henry knew each other prior to the incident." Of special note was the wonder(ul success of the March 4 Zone-Wide Rummage Sole. The zone w:is able to earn more than $7,000 that was donated to Whillier Elementary School. Our next accomplishment was the annual coin drive. The students, as well as the staff, took part in contribu1ing to this fund-raiser. During a two-week period, Sl.000 w:is colJected -to help FISH, a non-profit org:ini.zation helping families in need. Putting un end to bias and prejudice was the theme chosen for Toler:ince Weck. sponsored by the Ethnic Forum and the Ambassadors Club at the and of M:irch. In addition to re- ceiving the medal award, each student received a U.S. flag and certificate at a Feb. 22 cer- emony at the American Legion Hall. Fourth and fifth graders will h:ive fun during an all-day Coloni:il Faire on April 26. The Caire will fe:iture hands-on experiences with :irts :ind crafts from America's colonial period, with all children dressed in the clothing of th:il time. The :.i..xth-grade students arc concluding :in in depth unit on Egypt, in which c:ich student took on the life of an imaginary ph:iraoh, de- signed :i personal headdress, Jied a humble death :ind was immortalized fo r 3,000 ye:irs in their homemade pyramids. "In the discus, we didn't place (at Tustin), and we should've set a meet record, which is 357 feet, because they've gone 135 (Heads), 128 (Roussel) and 122 (Wilson).
