of instructional days in Califor-

School districts are now
required to provide 180 days of
instruction. A provision in the
law, however, allows teachers to
take up to eight staff develop-

the 180-<iay framework for train-

Wilson's latest proposal
would require that all 180 days
be spent solely on instruction,
but would also provide $350 mil-
lion to reimburse local school
districts that would be forced to
re-negotiate teacher contracts -
and find additional calendar
days for their teachers to train -
under the new law.
•1 think it's an excellent plan.•

CRANK CALL
Once an auto technician has
conducted the necessary inspections
and tests before concluding that your
car needs a new battery; consumers
should keep the CCA designation jn
mind when making a -selection. The
cold-cranking amps (CCA) number
refers to the current the battery can

industry standards specify that a
battery be able to deliver its claimed
CCA for at least 30 seconds at 0

produce less than half the power they
produce at 80 degrees P.) In some
cases, car owners may decide that
they wish to purchase a replacement
battery with a higher CCA than the

Another Seahawk turnover

Before the fans could blink,
Ward was on the line sinking his

Archbold was the only Sailor

Jameson added nine points and
