Police noticed afld con.f iscated a
pipe with residue of manJuana
from Huntsman's car, police
reports said. But the police ofhcer
only cited Huntsmdn for disturb-
ing the peace:
When the report was forwdrd-
ed to the school, administrators
invoked lhe full force of the zero-
tolerance policy by having
Huntsman suspended and trdDS-
ferred to Newport Harbor High
School.
Huntsman appedled the deci·
sion to the Superior Court and
won. Since Huntsman would
have been removed from Corona
del Mar for 90 days, and he was
less than 90 days from gradua-
tion, lbe court said the suspen-
sion amounted to an expuJsion.
Under rules for expulsion, the
district was obligated to have a
hearing, which it did not provide
because Huntsmcm's CdSC was
considered a suspension.

without a fight.
Woodbridge, ranked No. 2 in
Orange County, knocked off top-
ranked Corona del Mar Tuesday on

nine doubles sets
But Mang wasn't about to concede
the league title to Woodbridge (10-0,
4-0 m league) 1ust yet.
~Theu doubles are good, but
they're not that good," Mang said of
the Warriors. "Our middle doubles
(sophomore Kristen Griffith and
freshman Leslie Damion) were in
every set today, but our other two
teams, our more experienced dou-
bles, need to get more aggressive. I
thought we'd need to win three in
doubles."
CdM and Woodbndge, which
have shared two of the past three
league titles, with the Warriors cap-
turing the championship outright in
1996, meet again Oct. 29.
The Warriors and Sea Kmgs (7-2,
3-1), ranked second and third,
respect.J.vely, m CTF Southern Section

first two rounds, with Cd.M holding a
slim lead m games, 43-41.

tackles people,• Howell said
•He's the best we have at
redding. He knows where tho
ball is going on JUSt about every
play. He plays scout defense
against our first-team offense
and we have to tell lum to redd
things less quickly, because he's
always nght in the hole.•
Duddridge, a 6-1,
175-pounder, opened the season
at free safety, but moved to out-
side 'backer after the second
week. His e.xpenence m the
secondary, as well as dt othcr
linebacking spots, has proved
invaluable, according to Howell.
"He's the leader in tenns of
directing people," Howell said.
•He k.nows where everybody, is
supposed to be.·
The 5-9, 180-pound Herzog,
wbo leads the team ln rustung
at wingback (575 yards on 118
cames), Is also the strongest
player on the team. He combl.n
toughness and strength with
inltincts developed by with
yeen of youth footbdll to more
, than bold bis own.
