COSTA MESA -Jill Lloyd consid-

emblazoned on its front earlier this year.
The 42-year-old media relations

. her that she had been with the same
organization for 25 years.
"l looked at the pin and thought,
'Wow, I've been here a long time," she
srud "Not many people today stay with a

Lloyd broke her long mdmage w1th

for the past couple of montho;
"We will take our time to look di how

she scUd. "Jill and her staff have madP. a

avenues in public reldtions, namely arts
and music. Her mettle was tested tlus

LA HABRA -While March is
the month every coach hopes to
still be playing, Decembet is
audtllon time for nonstarters.
Following Corond del Mar
High's 77-50 victory over Wes~
minster in the consolation brack-
et of the Sonora Cage Classic,
Sea Kmgs boys baskett:>dl.l coach
Paul Orris -with lus best team in
three years -will apparently
need to re-evaluate some .player6
on his bench.
CdM (5-2), which never traile(i
agamst Westminster (0-8),
fecc1ved solid
performances
from Brooks
Morns and
Seth Richard-
son in backup
roles Tuesday
afternoon as
the Sea Kings
breezed m
handing the
Lions their Kevin Hansen
33rd straight
loss over three seasons.
When Morris, a 6-foot-3 juruor,
didn't play in the first three
games, he wondered about his
role and asked Orris to shed some
light. After a short meeting, the
veteran CdM coach, admittedly
reluctant about playing him, told
Moms. he would be given hlS
opportllnity.
·1 told (Morris) he had to show
me what he could do and he took
advantage of it,· said Orris, who
watched Moms tie for team sror-
mg honors with 13 points, drain-
ing all four attempts from the
floor m the fourth quarter, includ-
ing three three-pomters. ·
Morns, who dlso had five
rebounds (four in the second
quarter), and the 6-4 Richardson
(eight points) sparked the Sea
Kings at various times m the sec-
ond and fourth quarters.
CdM will play Millikan Thurs-
day at 8 p.m. m the consolation
semifinals. ·
Playing primarily m the first
and third quarters when Oms
had his starters m the game, 6-3
junior Kevin Hansen led CdM
with 13 points, while senior for-
ward Dennis Alshuler (11 pomlc;)
and 1wuor guard Alec Hanson
(10) alc;o reached double figures
The Sea Kings began to ~
away late m the first quarter
behind Alshuler, who converted a
three-pomt play for a 20-13 CdM
edge, then scored again as C~1
took a 22-13 lead by quarter's end.
GdM's defense smothered
We tnunster U1 the second as the
Lions went 1 of 9 from the floor to
trail at the half, 36-17.
