Sports Editor Recently the Daily Pilot published a prize-winning sports ethics essay by a high school student who was miffed that her coach would only allow the very best athletes to row for the crew team; and that average athletes had no chance to compete. She thought coaches should let everyone play. Coach Bill Sumner's emotional comments at last Thursday's ceremony to open the new all-weather track at Corona del Mar High School were a perf ecl counterpoint to the young lady's complaint, but his message to her and all athletes like her did not make the paper.
