In other action, trustees voted to reopen the Rea Community Center as an elementary school and to allow some of the tenants to remain at that sight. I'll have to admit being disappoint- ed, b<?wever, that he bumped Loretta Sanchez from the job, eyen though a majority of the faculty-student committee selecting the speaker wanted her. Seems as how the votes of those lefties on the faculty don't count as much as the student minority. Chipman Dean Joe Kertes explained that •the students had nothing against her as a person; it was, should we say, the political party she repre- sents.• This suggests that the students chose Crean either because (1) Crean doesn't rep- resent any political party, or (2) he represents the right one. Responding to the public's call for Crummel's ouster, the owners of the Ima Loa property where he lives served him with a 30-day eviction notice over the week- en~residents insist that is not soon enough and con- tinue to protest. Keller said the most likely result of Megan's Law is to drive paroled sex offenders under- ground. •You have to know when you get out that at the very minimum you're going to. get run out of town," she said. •And you may even get killed. "lt was well-executed,• he said of the pe.rformance Tuetday. In the tint game, Corona jumped out to an 8-0 leed before the Bagles' big gun senior 1\'avis Dunn pounded out three lethal Jump serves to get the hosts on the boa.rd, I Dunn, who ts bound for UC San Diego, became the only thorn in the Sea Kings' side as he fired out three aces and squelched a few Corona rallies, but could not single-htuldedly keep th& momentum away from Conti's team, which displayed a consistent solidity that was helped by the fact lhat Conti boasts a 16·man playoff roster. The Eagles had eight players. Game two saw the Sea Kings pull ahead early !lgain with a 6-0 lead before the Eagles scored. For game paint in the second, two Eagles blockers went up to defend an Alshuler kill attempt and, in mid-air, the 6-foot.;.t 50phomore tapped U away from the hands of tbe blockers rathe1 than risk a~ block by the de.fenden. Ai.huler perlormed this effective maneuver several times in the match and ended up with 13 kills. Senlot Bloir Hqppe poW>ded out a team-high 1-'. Dunn sent over an aoe to give Capis· trano Valley Christi4n its only leed of the match at 1-0 m the third game. The Sea Kings would once again take control, though and went ahead 8·2 before dos· tng the book on the Eagles, "'hich con· elude their sea.son at 16-2. Next up for the Sea Kings is top~seed ed Laguna Beach. The Artists swept Whittier Christian, 15-3, 15-12, 15-10 Tuesday. A coin-Oip today will deter- mine the site of the quarterlinal game, whlch will take place Friday . "Laguna's going to be a war, -Conti· said. "Nothing is better than going to war with a bunch of buddies.• Beauchamp add~ that the way he and his teammates have been playing lately could indicate a possible upset over Laguna Beach.
