I've been able to stay With the compa-

Jankowski's role in the show-the
most elaborate and technically com-

production -is one that r.equires him
to adapt constantly to new dramatic
situations and roles. He can be called
on to play 20 different characters in
the performance, and often handles
several roles at once when other
actors are missing.
"My job is to know everybody else's
roles,• Jankowski said. "I don't neces·

Sometimes that means Jankowski
will be singing, sometimes it means he'll

There have also been perlonnances

BOSTON -National Fuelsaver
Corp. of Boston has developed a
low cost automollve accessory
called the Platinum Gasaver
which is guaranteed to increase
gas mileage by 22% while
meeting all emission standitrds.
With a simple connection to
a vacuum line. the Gasaver
adds microscopic quantities of
platinum to the air-fuel mixture
. entering the engine.

Platinum has the unique ability
to make non-burning fuel bum.
With platinum in the flame zooc,
you increase the percentage of
fuel burning in the engine from
68% of each gallon to 90%.

of the catalytic converter.
Unfortunately. the converter's
burning process takes place
outside of the engine. where
the energy produced from
burning this fuel cannot be
harnessed to drive your vehicle.
But with platinum in the
combustion chambers, 22%
more of each gallon bums
inside the engine so that 22%
fewer gallons are required to
drive the same distance.
After studying this process
for five years, the government
concluded: "Independent testing
shows greater fuel savings with
the Gasaver than the 22%

confirmation of its fuel saving

uled to meet Tuesday in an
attempt to•settle on a specific
.plan to present to the City
Council later this year.
Six proposed plans devel-
oped 10 subcoouttee will be
presented to ad-hoc mem-

involve some form of city
management.
"The gray area lS where

property that really belongs
to the people at large. That is
something we have to be
emotionally aware of,• Noyes

One concern has been the
fear of public backlash of an
Arts Center being built
where d senior housing
development plan was previ-
ously ruxed.

senior housing there appears
to have passed," said library
Trustee Jim Wood. "Howev-

than 35% or the land, and we
wouldn't have a problem lf

Funding has been at the
forefront since news of the
center-became public. As dif.
ficult as it may be to raise $12
million, the job may be
tougher than first thought.
The Orange County Per-
forming Arts Center in Costa
Mesa is trying to raise $200
million for its planned expan-
sion, and it's likely the same
people will be asked to
donate money for the library
project.
"It is competitive -we
are well aware of that,"
Wood said. "But we t.hmk our
appeal is c:Wferent Ours is
more of a comm\lnity-based
facility that will primarily
serve the people of Newport
Beach."

Roeder disagreed with that

coming out of the alley is adequate.
One of Roeder's recommendations
is to add parking restrictions on
curbs that abut the alley so
motorists aren't hindered by

transfers and returners alike.

CORONA DEL MAR -The gray area
between depth chart and held performance
begins to clear considerably when high school
tootball teams don full gear for the first time.
Those quesbons loomed particularly large
at Corona del Mar High, where fifth-year
coach Dick Freeman and lus players officially
made the transition from the three-day condi-
tioning period Thursday.
In addition to the perennial cunosity about
how much up-and-comers have progressed,
Freeman was anxious to determine how a
crop of newcomers would fare in their first
full-contact activity. The Sea Kings will contin-
ue to proVide Freeman and his staff with those
answers as they work toward the Sept. 9
opener against Manna at Newport Harbor
High.
•since we don't have a whole lot of experi-
ence, we'll be finding out some thmgs about
our kids, II Freeman said. "There cn1.11a-
quite a few changes in our clepthcharf!'W ·;
Among the newcomers is transfer Peter
FOOllALL
Skoutelas, a 6-foot-1, 230·pound hneman,
who came in from Pennsylvania late Jast
week.
Freeman inttidlly proJeCtC!d Skoutelas
would help at dPf Pnsive end, but, c1ftor a h.rst-
hand look m Thutsday·s first pracuce,
believes he could be more effochve at offen-
sive guard.
Senior Chuck Shurtloff, a 5-9, 180-pounder
who transferred from San Diego dunng spring
practice, also showed well as a potential safe-
ty, Freeman said.
Freeman also smgled out an unpressive
morning showing by senior returner Tom
Shochat, whom he hopes will take over for for-
mer three-year starter AJex Bottom at center,
•Tom did real well getting out and blocking
our linebackers," Freeman said.
Specifics aside, Freeman acknowledged
the first day m pads always revitalizes things
for the players and coaches alike.
"By the Uurd day, that no-pads stuff really
starts to get old. We can do things with the
backs and rec:;e1veJS, but we have lo start mak-
ing tlllDgs up to keep the linemen focused.
HThere was a lot of hustle out there today
and I liked what 1 saw.•
