the front page as weU. The
same goes for, any public
offie1al or figure. The public
has a right to ~ow, and we

Meanwhile, we must
point out the school district
has a zero-tolerance policy

The board can't have at

COMMENTARY
Third, I am bal •
fled by the opin·
on that Newport

much more ·
sophisticated than
voters tn other
commuruties and
were able to aM·

factS. At the same
tune. l read letters
from anb-busin s
Greenllgbters
who claim to be
upporuve of the
proJect but will vote •no· because
we dared to also use the word
Greenllght.
None of these people attended
any of the planning meetings or
probably even read the volumes of
information on the project. Does Uus
sound like voters basing their ded·
sion on the facts or more like some·
one who will oppose any project m
the city no matter what.
Fourth. there is no doubt that we
all care very much about our cornmu·
ruty. name is one of our key con·
cems No one claims to be in favor of
gmllock or ·pro-traJflc • We also
knew that the Koll project was going
to generate addltaonal car tnps, 4>

The quality of We lll Newport

some people even believe that hav-

part to keep the economy strong,
and that means that Newport Beach
must also do its part by allowing for
