They just don't work very well. In hopes of addressing some traffic problems, the Clty Council will tonight consider spending $235,760 to help launch a "tta.ffic Oow optimization project.· If the councilmen say yes. Meyer. Mo- haddes Associates inc. will be awarded a contract in that amowu to examine traffic Oow in some areas of the city and to rec ommend improvements. The company would fine-tune the timing of signals in places where it would improve traffic Oow. Meyer, Mohaddes wouJd also assess and advise on all the c.aJtrans-oper- ated signals in the dty. In addition. the company will look at otbel-low-and moderate-al5t ways to im- prove traffic 6ow. I would like 10 see a feasibility study of using the existing right·of-ways for the some of the freeways and roadways that lead from Orange County to Ontario for a light rdiJ system (maybe elevated over the center divider) that would be exclusively for transportation to the airport. lnere could be a limited number of .. stations" along the route where airport passengers could park their cars, and get checked-in with curbside service, as is done at the airpon (including checking baggage).
