SALT LAKE CITY -Homeowners in a canyon above Salt
Lake Oty were ordered to evacuate Friday after two mudalldes
blocked the canyon top and record snowpack in Utah's mountains
melted under sweltering temperatures. The Salt Lake City
sheriff's department had no immediate word on how many people
would evacuate Emigration Canyon's Pine Crest section, where
eeveral homesites are located. An earlier order to evacuate the
entire canyon was later narrowed to include just the Pine Crest.

Teen dies playing Russian roulette
JOHNSTOWN. Pa. -A high school student died after
shooting himself in the head while playing Russian roulette with
a revolver in class, officials said Friday. Steven Parka, 17, a junior
at Greater Johnstown,High School. shot himself once in the head
inside a car in the school's auto mechanics shop. Parka brought his
parents' car into the school auto shop and was joind by two other
students in the car. Barron said. After several minutes of talking
and listening to the radio, Parks pulled a .22-caliber revolver from
under a car seat, held the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.
