The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in adjourned session 2:30 P.1. march 9th, 1914. resident Hermes called the meeting to order; and roll was called resent: trustees �.L.uollins; '7.K.Yarkinson; and C.H.7ay. .bsent: trustee R.J.Stauss. Parkinson, that urdinance ff95 be amended by adding proposition #1 placing the municipal water plant on the ballot. Moved by trustee C.H.:7ay, seconded by trustee, S.L.Collins and carried, that the deed and abstract on the Kelley lot be accepted and filed. Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by trustee, C.H.77ay, that the clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the public toilets, as per plans and specifications on file in the city clerks office at the city hall, and carried. The plication of J.E.Barker to'bridge•the; alley in--.the rear of lots #3 and #4 in block #23 was granted. Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by trustee C.H.Way, and carried, Roll was called showing, Ayes; Albert Hermes, S.L.Collins W.K.Parkinson, and C.H. °Jay, Noes; None, Absent, R.J.Stauss. The resolution of intention ordering a street lighting system was read for the first time, Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconds by trustee, i.K.Parkinson, that it be passed to the second reading and carried 311 Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by C.H.17ay, that the clerk be instructed to advertise the sale of $25,000.00 light ing bonds, as follows, three lots of $5,000.00 each one lot of $10,000.00 Bonds to be sold all or a portion at the descretion of the Board. Mr, Lynch of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co addressed the Board in the - matter of advertising for,sale the Telephone franchise, Moved by trustee S.L.Collins seconded by trustee, C.H.7ay, that the franchise be readvertised for sale, same to call for three free phones instead of ten (10) as previously advertised, for city use, Bids to be in the hands of the clerk by 2:30 P.M. May 4th, 1914. and carried. Moved by trustee, S•L•Collins seconded by trustee C.H.7.ay, that the clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for a street lighting system, as per plans and specifications, in the hands of the city clerk, city hall, Newport Beach Cal. and carried. Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins seconded by trusteef; C.H.7ay, that the Demand of J.F.Souders #597 for $25.00 be allowed and warrant drawn, and carried. Lew.H.'7allace addressed the Board on the cost of the exhibit at the National Orange Show at San Bernardino, and asked that the Board appropriate $214.00 for publicity purposes, in representing Newport Harbor at the Show, Moved by trustee S.L.Collins seconded by trustee, C.H.'oay that this request be granted, and carried. The city clerk was instructed to demand of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co, that they make application in writing for the purpose of taking out a franchise. Moved by trustee, :7.K.Parkinson, seconded by trustee, C.H. °lay. that adjournment be taken to 2:30 P.t;;. Mond'ay March 23d, 1914. Adjourned.
