City Hall, Newport Beach, California. March 30th, 1914:
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 2:30 P.M. March 30th, 1914.
President; Hermes called the meetingto order; and roll was called
showing there were present trustees Albert Hermes; ;I.K.Parkinson
S.L.Collins, and C.H.�.7ay, absent; trustee R.J.Stauss.
Committie on the application for dredging by Chase and 3ramwell
at Balboa, reported, no objections.
Committie on filing cases, reported.
Various communications read and reffered to proper order of business.
Unfinished business: - Resolution adopting plans and specifications
of the new street lighting system, Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins
seconded by trustee, C.H.77ay, that they be adopted, Roll was called
showing, Ayes; A.Hermes, 7.K.Parkinson, S.L.Collins and C.H.Way,
Noes; None Absent R.J.Stauss, and carried.
New Business;- The request of L.Davis for permission to construct
his own cement walk, was granted, and the Enginerr instructed to give
him the grade.
The application of I.F.Palmer, to erect a stand on the ocean front
west of the S.P.Marf, was denied, Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins
that it be granted, motion lost for want of a second.
The application of C.H.Hammond, for a license to operate a lunch
stand on the ocean front, on the lot of C.H.Sc.ott, Moved by trustee
C.H.7ay, seconded by trustee S.L.Collins, that it be granted, and
carried.
The communication from Public Accountent Loomis, was filed.
The application of the Melrose Association to construct a temporary
foot bridge, across the Santa Ana river, was °read, Moved by trustee
.'.K.Parkinson, seconded by trustee, S.L.Collins, that it be granted,
and carried.
The bids on the street lighting system were opened, and referred to
a committie of the whole.
Moved by trustee, C.H.17ay, seconded by trustee, S.L.Collins, and ,
carried, that the Plumbers Bond of the Advance Home Builders,
after having been approved by the City Attorney, be accepted and
filed.
Moved by trustee, W.K.Parkinson, seconded by trustee, S.L.Collins
and carried that the Liquor Bond of Mrs, Addie .lest, after having
been approved by the City Attorney, be accepted and filed.
Mr, Mock of the Melrose Mesa Accociation, addressed the Board on
the changing of the water main running thru their property,
Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by trustee, C.H.7ay, and
carried that a committie of three be appointed to meet with Mr,
Mock and his Engineer, Mr,'7ilcox, on Thursday Morning, April, 2nd,
and go over the ground, Committie, consisting of, S.L.Collins,
A.Hermes and �7.K.Parkinson.

The committie appointed to secure information in rer:ard to the
Vault furniture reported, Moved by trustee, W.K.Parkinson
seconded by trustee, C.H.7ay, that a'committie be appointed to
select and purchase the sections needed, Committie consisting
of C.H.Way, A.Hermes, and C.MCrego.
Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins seconded by trustee, C.H..7ay, that
the Superentendent of streets take the matter of bulkheading the
canal, between 37th, and 38th, streaks up with V:S.Townsend and
H.E.Smith.
Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by trustee, C.H.Way,
that adjournment be taken sine -die. arried. Adjourned.
