The Board of Trustees of the City og Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 2.30-P.M.- date and place above shown.'
The clerk being absent;trustee G.P.Wilson was appointed to act as
clerk pro -tem.
Roll was called showing there present trustees U.K.Parkinson; S.R. '
Jumper;•H.A.Robinson; C.H..Way and G.P.Wilson. None absent.
There was introduced and read for the first time ordinance
being an ordin nce of the City.of f?ewport Beach amending section 3;d
of ordinance #Q1Eoncerning the carrying of passengers In vehicles
operating over the city streets.. On motion of trustee C.H.Way seconded
by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried,said ordinance was passed to
second reading.
At 3 P.M. city clerk Wilkinson arrived and ssumod his duties.

Minutes of the meetings of June 16th'18th,and 22nd mere read and
approved.
The Street Committee reported progress in the matter of street to
be Opened along south side of the P.E.right of may from 28th to 30th
streets.
Various communications were read and referred to proper order of
business.
Unfinished business:- Under the head of unfinished business further
consideration of ordinance #101 entitled as follows:
'
An ordinance of the city of Newport Beach,amunicipul corpobation of
the sixth class,incorperated under the laws of the State of California,
calling a special election for the purpose of submitting to the q
qualified voters of the City of Newport Beach,the proposition of
incurring a bonded debt for the acquisition and construction in the
city of Newport Beach of a municipal improvemont:to -wit: an electric'
abreet lighting syste.m;reeitong the objects and purposes for which
the indebtedness is.proposed to be incurrod,the estimated cost of
the proposed public.improvement,theamount of the principal of the
indebtedness to be incurred therefor,and the rate of interest to be
paid on said indebtedness ;fixing the date on which special election
shall be held,.the manner of holding such election and the votin$.for
or against incurring .such.intdebtedness,and providing that in all
particulars not recited.in this ordinance,such election shall be held
as provided by law for holding municipal elections in the city of
Newport Beach. - -- was taken up for final consideration; after debate
and discussion trustee H.A.Robinson moved,seconded by trustse C.H.way
and carried that ordinance y101 be placed upon final pacsagear_d the
clerk instructed to call the roll. Upon the calling of the roll the
following named members of the Hoard of Trustees voted in favor of
the passage and adoption of said ordinance: W.A.Parkinson;C.H.Way;
S.R.Jumper;H.A.Robinson and G.P.T.4ilson. Core than two thirds of all the
members of the Board of Trustees having voted in favor of the passage
and adoption of ordinanco #'•101 the President of the Board of Trustees
declared the same passed and thereupon siancd and approved said
,
ordinance.
The plumbers bond of J.E Wilson being.in duo form was approved and
accepted on motion of trustee G.P.Wil son,seconded by trustoo H.A.
Robinson and carried.
Letter from the Pacific Electric Ry Co saying that matter of easement
for street purposes over right of way from 30th street to wost city
limits would bo.roffered to B-r.Shoup on his return and dofinite.roply
made laterowas filed.
Request was filed by Luna B.Sherman that change be made in the
contour of Bay Ave in fron_g,pf o 19�atn� 20 block 4 and in front
ot'ilots BSS in black C oppr�slie,` •'tFbi purpose of straightening the
ftreet.Also a similar request was made by the omners of lots 1-2-3.
