Ths board of tructoes of the cite of I:ewport Beach met'in regular
session 7.30 P.M. July Gth.1914.
President Parkinson called the meeting to order and there responded
to roll oall;trustoos a.H. Parkinson, S. R.Jumpov;H.A.Robinson,C.H. ::'ay
and G.P.Tilson.l;one absent.
The minutos of tho meeting gf.Juno 29th,1914 woro read and approved
after correction.
The.reporta of the heads of departments for the month of June;also
.for the fiscal year ending Jun.c 30th,1914.woro read and on ryatlon
of trustee 11. A.Rebinspn,secondod by truct:oo C.H..7ag and carried were
accepted and filed.
The Street Committee reported pyo3ress in the msttcr of attempting
to one-n€ opening of a s trpet from 24th to 30th streets along south
side of the P.P - right of gray and read r:plie:3 fron several ,property,
owners as to vale of lots.
Various co=ariications werer read and referred to proper order of
business.

amending soction/o orirarce x'72 11censim3 vehicles carrying
passengers within, the city was read for the second time;and on
motion of trustee C.H.may,eecondod by trustee G- P-.7ilson and carried
was. lair: on the table.
Resolution #42 boing.a resolution of the city of Newport Beach
ordering certain improvements on 31et;32nd;33rd;34th;and 35th streets
was read for the second time and on motion of trustee G.P.Wilson,
seconded by trustee S.R.Juriper,cnd carried was placed on final
passage.Roll was called and there responded Aye:trustooe W.H.Parkinabn
S.R.Jumper;H.A.Robinson;C.H.Way and G. P.Wilson.Noes;None.Abeent,None.
President Parkinson declared Resolution #42 pa „red.
Resolution of intention V�yjlooking to the opening up of a street
from 24th to 30th streets along the southerly side of the P.E.right
of way was read for the first time and was passed to second reading
on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.Vay and
carried.
Ordinance jr'-- being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach,fixing
the tax levy for the current year was road for the first time,
second reading to take place Sept 7th, and on motion of trustee
S.R.Jumper,asconded by trustee C.H.Way was passed to second reading.
on being duly carried.
In the matter of preparing for jotty bond eloction,it was considered
advisable to go over the matter thonoughly of Uzo annextion to the
city of certain territory that would benefit by the improvement of
the Bay ad. It was moved by trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee
C.H.Way and carried that a committee of three,of whom the prooident
of the Board was to be ono,be appointed to take up the matter of
annexion with interested parties.President Parkinson named as such
committee,Lew H.Wallece;H.A.Robinson and W.K.Parkinson.
The fire company reported the resignation of chief Shafer and the
election of H.C.Castle as Fire Chief. The action of the fire company
was approved on motion of trustoo S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee
H4A.Robinson and carried.
The'request of Fire Chief Castle to have the Board inspect the fire
apparatus was referred to the fire committee with instructions to.
report at neat meeting.
The invitation from SanBernardino to join in their celebration on
the opening of the Electric Lino from Los Angeles on July 11th was
filed.

INotice from the State R.R.dommision of a hearing to be given in Los
Angeles.conaerning the establishing of 'a minimum rate of $1.00 per
!mcnth by the WeSt Coast Gas Cofer gas sold in the City of Newpobt
,Beaeh.was filed.
The plumbers bond of Mr Davenport was presented and being, in proper
iform waa accepted and filed on motion of truotooS.R.Jumpor,seconded
by trustee H.A.Bobinson and carried.
' ;Demands on the City #1 to #99 inclusive were presented,all aproved
-by the finance comm"Ittee;and on motion of trustee S.R.ffumper,seoond
by trustee G.P.Wilson abd carried woro allowed and warrants ordered
drawn.
Ur Lew H.Wallace on behalf of the Melrose W.osa Association verbally
:offered to donate for street purposes a right of way on the north
!side of the river for the County boulevard and to moot the city half
way on any bridges that right be neceserary on account of the locatio'
of the.highway. No action taken at Vao present Lime,

building permits and a dicussion fol".owed as how best to rem..edy the
matter;no definite action being taken.

had repaired and added to their pavii,ion on the bay front without
taking the steps reduiv.sd by orda.nanoe and the Clerk was instructed
to call their attention to the mattered request that they comply
