The Board of Trustees of the City of Neaport Beach met in roduinr
session 7.30 P.M. date and place above shown.
President W.K.Parkinson called the meeting to order and th- roll_ ^,;1

Var4ous communications mere read and referred to proper order of
(business.
A deed was prerented by R.I.Boswell and iris wife Avis Boseell,
conveying to the city a portion of lot 20 block 4 Newport Bay r• --ct.
To straighten out street; consideration for same being N50.00. Sa3•d

The papers in thc; aLrrement' offered by the Pacific Electric Coxpai,iy
granting an easement for the laying and maintaining of a water pip:

signed by the President and clerk of the Board. Said action being
ordered and authorized on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,cecoe.ued b y I
trustee C.H.'9cy and carried.
Plumbers bond filed by A.Butz and electricians bond filed by T.F.
Joplin;being In due form and satisfactory;aere accepted and ordered !

The application of '.9.Miartin to operate a punch board on a raffle
basis in connection with his business as tailor was denied on mot -o.�:
od trustee C.H.'Tay,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried.
On motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.3ny and
carried the Marshal aas instructed to at once notify all persons
operating punch boards in the city that licenses must be appli.ei fool
!covering the operation of said boards,that evey chance sold must
draw something in the way of remuneration and that revolvers mutt
not be h,ridlod as prizes in the operation of these boards.
Ordinance fr103 being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach
levyi::g a property tax for the fiscal year 1914-1915 was read for t'qu
!second time and on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper seconded by trustnc
iH.A.Robinson and carried was put on final pnssage.Roll aas cal ?ed

Parkinson declared ordinance #103 passed.

This being the firm Nonday in September the follooin; resolution
fixing the tax levy was adopted.On motic ! of trustee II.A.F.obi.., ur.,
seconded by trustee :.R.Jumper and duly carried,it was resolved th
a property tax be and is hereby levied upon all taxable property
the city of Newport Beach which is taxable therin for muninip?.e
purposes,said tax being levied for the purpose of carrying on the
!various departments of the City of Newport Beach for the curroat
ifiscal year of 191nm1915: the total number of cents levied upon c^
;One Hundred Dollars (0100.00) of assessed value of ascess^ble
:property in the City of Newport Beach is hereby fined at eighty ce„tr�

The letter from sir Bugbee of the Pao Elec stating that that Ccm;)any

Jumper seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried,the City Attorney
..,as instructed to prepare the initial steps forming en assesz „rent
district to stand the expense of this improvement. Boundaries of
said district to be nlvarr.do to 'inin and Central to Surf Aves,the
0,1.y Engineer being instructed to furnish the necessary data to the
attorney.
The letter from the City Health Officer Porter calling attention to
the existence of several cases of typhoid fever in certain locality
3ithin City limits and asking that se:•:er be extended to serve the '
section in question,resulted in a motion by trustee :_.R.Jumper,
seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried instructing the Health
Officer to ascertain what is the best disinfectant for the purpose,
to furnish same at the citys expense if necessary,and to see that
said disinfectant was properly used and to insist that vaults in the
infected district be put in good condition.
The resignation of City Electrician "I.P.Joplin was accepted on
motion og trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried.

cn:°ried that S.L.Collins be and is hereby appointed Electric
Inspector of the City of Newport Beach.
Easements offered by the property owners over a three foot portion
of lots 17 to 28 inclusive block 14 Balboa tract for the purpose
of allowing the placing of waterq:seererpipes and the placing of the
necessary poles and :,Ares for the furnishing of electricity.also
pipes for the conveying of gas,were accepted and ordered filed.
Demands Nos 192 to 270 inclusive approved by the finance committee
::ere presented and same .lere nllowed and warrants ordered drawn on
motion of trustee C.H.Way secondee bye trustee H.A.Robinson and
carried.
NnrshaI23 J.A.Porter was given a vacation beginning the 0thof Sept '
and continuing until the 12th of Sept current year.
On motion of trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee C.H.Tay and
carried adjournment was taken to 7.30 P.;:I. uesd Sept 8th,1914.
