The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular session 230 P.M.date and place above shown. President'Parkinson called the meeting:to order-and the roll was called showing th9re were present trustees :W.K.Parkinson;S.R.Jumper; H.A.Robinson;.C.H.Way and G.P.Wilson.Absent:None. The minutes of_the'meeting of December 28th,1914.were read and approved. Reports of the heads of the various departments,for the month of December were read,accepted and filed. The committee on the procuring of a refuse dumpyreported that the Townsend interests were willing.that the city should continue to use the present.property,that has been so used for- the past year,for another year.Finally Mr Townsend - agreed to transfer the property to the city for..a consideration of $350.00.per acre for a ten acre plot.Payments to be distributed over a period of between 3 and 4 years.The matter was referred to unfinished business. The appllcation.of.Mr'Bowen for a hotel liquor license to be used in the Balboa Hotel,accompanied by a sketch or plan showing where in the building the liquor was to'be served;also by the vequived'bond; was read for the first time and laid over,as required,before final action should be taken. Unfinished Business:City.Attorney Bishop presented the contract covering the matter of garbage and refuse handling by L.G.Swales. Moved by trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Rcbinson and carried that said contract be entered into and the president of the Board authorized to sign same,on the part of the city,same to be attested by the clerk,when the required bond is properly filed by Mr Swales. City Engineer 'Webber presented plans and specifications for doing thi work of improvement on Adams street,Alvarado street,Coronado street, Fernando street and that portion of Bay Ave lying between the easter, line of Alvarado street and the westerly line mf Main street. A resolution accepting and adopting.said plans and specifications was then presented and was adopted on motion of trustee S.R.5umper seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried by the following votes as shown on roll call.Ayes: Trustees W.K•Parkinson;S.R.Jumper;H.A. Robinson;C.H.Way;and G.P.Wilson. Noes:None. Absent:None. President Parkinson declared said resolution adopted. Resolution of Intention # being.a resolution of the city of Newport Beach looking...to the improvement of the following..streets, Adama,Alvarado,Coronado.,.fernando and a portion of Bay Aveowas read for the first time and was passed to second reading on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried. Ordinance # being an ordinance.of the city.of Newport Beach establishing,grades.etc on the following stre&ts,Adams;Alvarado; Coronado;Fernando and a.portion of Bay.Ave,was read for the first tii and pas:-:ed to seccnd reading on motion of trustee C.H..Way,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper,and carried. In the matter of procuring a location for refuse deposit.It. was moved by trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.Way,and carried that the report of the committee be accepted,the ten acres named secured;and the city Attorney instructed to draw up the necessary contract with the LaHabra Land and Water Co. New Business: Application for the improvement of Lindo Ave from the bay to Central Ave;and 2nd street from Central Ave to the Ocean front was laid over being reffered to the Street Supt for report. MrsaKing appeared before the Board and urged the completion_ of the work on Lake. Ave.No action. Moved by trustee.S.R.Jumper,.seconded by trustee C.P.Wilson that the e1t$ attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance making the time o I. On motion of trustee S.R. "Jumpor,socondod by trustee G.P.;711son and carried President 17:B.Parkinson and Lori H.Clalleco were appointed a committee. to select and confer.oith a competent engineer and secure advise as to how best protect.the ocoan ffront,and also get an estima off, the cost of ouch protection. Ordinance # being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach setting the .timo of meeting,.o$. tho Board of Trustees at 7.30 P.m. was road.for the float time and on.motion of .trustoo C.H.Way,seconde by trustee S.R.Jumnor and carried was pas od.to sgcond reading. Street Supt J.E.Barker rias instructed to post.notices in comfort stationo forbidding, the use of thes© places as dressing rooms;also authorizing him to secure pad -looks for use on tho lockors'in which towels and toilet paper are kept. Gloved by.trustee S.R.Jumper,socondod by turstoo G.P.Wilson and carried that a committee be.appointod to recommend revision L)f the license ordinanee.Presidont Parkinson named on said committee trust000 C.H.11ay and G.P.17ilson.
