City Ha1l,Newport Beach,Cal.May 10th91915.
The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met at 7.30 P.M.
in the city hall,date above shpwn,persuant to adjournment.
President Parkinson called the meeting to order? and the roll was
called showing there were present trustees ;"I.K.Parkinson,S.R.Jtimper;
H.J'•Robinson ;C.H.i7sy and G.P..I'alson,Absent No;ie.
Minutes of the meetings of the 3rd and 4th of May were read and
approved.
Communications were read and referred to proper order of business.
Unfinished Business; The application of Bowen Bros for renewal of
wholesale and retail liquor license,having laid over as required by
ordinance was,on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper seconded by trustee,
G.r.Wilson and carried,considered favorably and licenses granted
as prayed.
Request oQ L.G.Stvales that he be protected on his contract for the
handling of garbage was referred to the cityAttorney for the drafts
of an ordinance to accomplish the same.
The notice filed by Roy Jumper asking that certain claims of his,
agaihst a subcontractor on.the Installing of the street lighting
sys$em be taken cognizance of by the city,was filed as Hr. Jumper
stated that matter had been settled. .. .
The refusal of Mr Cummings to make good his bid on street 7ork was
referred to the city Attorney for report and reccomendation.
The protestnnts,against the confirmation of the report of the
Commissioners in the matter of the opening of Bay Avenue from 23rd
to 30th streets,being represented by attorney H.C.Head,were given
a hearing and - stated why they considered the report unjust;the
chief complaint being that all property in the assesment riistr-ict•
was assessed at tho •same figure regardless of its location to the
new street.In addition to this exception Mr Aiken maintained that
he should have been allowed damages on his'lot from which it was

by inserting dimension figures of lots and blocks shown thereon.
The clerk reported that,as instructed some weeks ago,he had advertis
far plans and specifications for protection on the pcean front,and
had replies from the following F.Harding.Santa Ana.H.C1ay,Kellogg.
Santa Ana. C .Gully.Corona.'V.D.McKinney.Los Angeles.C.D.Hasler.Los Ang,
G. F.Lewis.Venice.E.T.Flaherty.Los Angeles.V.T.Reuter.Los Angeles.
J.F.B1ee.Santa Ana.Munoz &Munoz.Los Angeles.Holland Construction Co.
San Diego.G.W.Harding.San Diego.Pearsall & Dupuy.Long Beach.Floyd G.
Dessery.Los Angeles.I.B.Funk.Los Angeles.Ralph Bennett.Los Angeles.
Plans were then referred to.a committee of the whole to meet at 7.30
P]M.Wednesday.
New Business:Demand #1014 was presented and allowed and warrent
ordered drawn on motion of trustee G.P.Wilson,seconded by trustee
H.A.Robinson and carried.
Letter of the Barrett Adding machine Cc calling attention to their
adding machine was filed.
Letter from .V.S.Collins3concerning annextion of Balboa Island and
asking that certain things be undertaken by the city if Island was
annexed in return for which he would turn over to the city the
existing sewer and water systems on said Island,was laic] over.
Attorney Bishop reported on trip to Sacramento.
Ajournment taken to 7.30 P.M.Monday May 17th,1915 on motion of
trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee G?P.Wilson and carried.Adjourne
