The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session in the city hall 7.30 P.M.Monday July 12th,1915.
President Parkinson called the meeting to order and roll was called,
showing there were present trustees :'9.k.Parkinson;S.R.Jumper;H.A.
Robinson;C.H.Way and G.P.Wilson.Absent:None.
Various communications were read and referred to proper order of
business.
Unfinished business: -Mr Pease was given the floor and presented
signed contract with owners of more than three fifths of the fronta
property between 22nd'and 26th streets providing for the installati
of a red -wood bulk head and a cement sidewalk.
Moved by trustee C.H.Way that Mr Pease be given permission to proce
with the contemplated work per plans and specifications to be filed
by the city'engineer.No second.
On motien of trustee S.R.Jumper seconded by trustee C.H.Way and
carried a resolution was adopted instructing the city engineer to
prepare and.present carefully prepared plans,specifications and
estimate of cost of a redwood'bulk -head with a 16 foot cement walk
behind same to be constructed on the ocean front from i2nd to 26th
streets. .
New Business: -The inquiry'of the Aetna Insurance Co as to renewal pf
electricians bond was filed and clerk instructed 'to' reply that party
covered by'bond "in question was no longer holder of license.
The inquiry of the city'attevney of the-city of Claremont as to
city ordinance protecting property of public waiting rooms was filed
and clerk instructed to refer the gentleman to State penal code unde
head of malicious mischief.
Letter from County Surveyor inviting suggestions as to changein the
voting precincts within the city limits. as filed 'without comment.
'The request of business men and property owners asking that the
street on' the front.be put in shape for use as far as 22nd street
was referred to ,Street Committee with power to-act.
The request.that the city repair a wharf on the Bay -Front at what
appears to be the end of ernando Street was productive of no action
as investigation shows wharf not on public property.Dr Thorpe who
called attention to the matter to be so notified.
Mr Lew H.'.Nallace called attention to the coming visit of the Elks
and asked that $250:00 be set aside from the publicity fund for thei
entertainment.lhe city attorney advised that this could not be done
and the matter was dropped.
Moved by trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson that
,-adjournment be taken sine- die.Carried.Adjourned.
