City Hall,Newport Beach,Cal.September•7th,1915.
The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 7.30 P.M.Tuesday,September 7th,1915 in the city hall.
President Parkinson called the meeting to order and there responded
to roll call trustees ;9.K. Parkinson ;S.R.Jumper;Ii.A.Robins'on a-nd C.H.
Way.Absent.Trustee G.P.Wilson.Who arrived later and took part in the
business of the meeting.
Communications were read and referred to 1•roper order of business.
The following resolution was then presented.
The Board of Trustees of•the city of Newport Beach do resolve and i
declare as follows.
A property tax is hereby levied upon all the property in the city of
Newport Beach,which is taxable therein for municipal purposes,said
tax is levied for the purpose of raising tr15,7 &3.00 to carry on the
various departments of the city of Newport Beach for the fiscal year
of 1915- 1916:the total number, of cents levied upon each one hundred
dollars of assessed value. of the assessable property in the city of
Newport Beach is hereby fixed at 70 eents,divided and desiginated
for each fund as follows:
For the Salary fund.15 cents.
For the Street fund.35 cents.
For the Current Expense fund.20 cents..
In addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes,,
there is further levied on each one hundred dollars of assessed
value of the assessable property in the city of Newport Beach,the
sum of .35 cents for the purpose of raising $7,440.00 a sum sufficient
'to pay the annual interest and such part of the principal of the
outstanding and unpaid municipal bonds of the city of Newport Beach,
as shall become due before the time for fixing the next annual levy.
The above and foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular meeting
of the Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach held the 7th
day of September,1915.on motion of trustee C.H:Way seconded by trustee
S.R.Jumper and carried by the following vote on roll call.Ayes.
Trustees W. H. PArkinson ;S.R.Jumper;H.A.Robinson and C.H.Way.Noes.None.
Absent Trustee G.P.Wilson.President•Parkinson declared resolution
passed.
It appearing that this is the date and time set for the hearing of
the protest against the acceptance of-the report of the Commissioners
in the matter of opening Bay Avenue from 23rd to 30th streets the
floor was given to Mr Clyde 'Noodworth attorney for protestants who
called attention to discrepancy existing between the map or platt
presented as part of the report of said commissioners and the
description as shown in the resolution of intention maintaining that:
this difference was not capable of repair.After listening to the
argument presented it was moved by trustee Ii.A.Robinson seconded by
trustee C.H.Way that the report of the Commissioners with corrected
ma.p be accepted and the protests filed be rejected.Carried.
Letter from Mr Maxwell of the Methodist church thanking the Board
for the use of the room in the city hall for church service purposes
was furled.
Letter from Mr Houtalling concerning gathering of garbage was
refferred to the Supt of Streets.
Moved i;y trustee v.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.Wayand carried
