The Board of Trustees of the City of Fewport Beach met in regular
session at 7:30 F.L:. I. "_onday ?'_ay lot, 1916 in the City Hall.
President S.R.Jumper called the meeting to order and the roll was
called showing there r:ere present trustees, S.R.Jumper, Glenn I1elms,
G.F.':;ilson, H.A.Robinsnn and J. C.TTCCain. 'bsent none.
The minutes of the meetir_:; of 'rril 24th, 1916 were read and approves
Reports of the heads of the various de-^artments, for the month of
^nril were rend and on mlotioii of Trustee H ::.Robinson, seconded by
- trustee G.F.;.ilson and carried were accepted and filed.
Various communications were read and referred to »roper order of
business.
UEFI'_�ISLL":D BUSINESS; Ordinance ;1123 ryas read for the second time,
being En Ordinance of th•- cit of Newport Beach fixing the compens-
ation of the City Recorder at "20.00 rer month.
Lloved by trustee G.P.,,'ilson seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and
carried that Ordinance 3'123 be changed to read "'25.00 per month.
The clerk thereupon changed the figures so as to read y25.00.
I,Ioved by trustee G.F.',ilson seconded by- trustee H.b.Robir_son and
carried that Ordinance L -123 be put on final massage, Roll was
called•as follows; Ayes: Trustees, S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms G.P.
ililson, H.A.Robinson, J.C.IScCain, hoes; None, Absent, None.
President S.R.Jumper declared ordinance #123 passed,
Ordinance f being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach
repealing Ordinance ;92-abolishing the office of assistant "ater
superintendent was read.
Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee G.P.Y'ilson and
carried that ordinance repealing ordinance -`92 be laid on
the table.
There was then presented and read Resolution ','51 the same being
a resolution of t',e city of Newport peach, authorizing and desig
rates S.R.Jumper as President of the Board of Trustees and the
Executive of said city, to sign twenty -three Gas Bonds, also aut-
horizes and designates Levi H.l7allace as Treasurer of the city of
Ne:wport.Beach to sign said twenty -three bonds, and also authorizes
and designates Claude Id.Crego as Clerk of the City of Newport Beach
to countersign.said bonds, and further authorizes and designates
Levi H. aallace as Treasurer to sign the interest cupons thereto
attached.
Resolution -Zl was then passed on motion of trustee, H. A. Robinson
seconded by trustee J.C.I,IcCain and carried by the following roll -
call ayes, Trustees, S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P.74ilson, H.A.
Robinson and J.C.I.ICCain. Noes; None, __boont, None, - resident
Jum-?er declared resolution r'f51 passed, and thereupon sir_ned and
approved the same.
ITE71 BUSINESS: There rias at this time presented a written petition
proposing to alter the boundaries of the city of Iierrport Deach and
to annex thereto, incorporate and include therein,.and make a part
thereof„ certain new territory. The Board of Trustees proceeded
to hear. the petition, both oral and .docu- mentary.evidence was intro-
duced, received and considered, from .:hich it appears and the Board
of Trustees find that the petition is in writing; that all the
signers thereof are qur:.lified electors of the city of Newport Beach;
that it is signed by more than ore-fifth in number of all the qual-
ified electors of the city of Neriport Beach computed upon the num-
ber of votes cast at the last general election held therein -nd
each sigr_er thereon affixed thereto the date of such signing, that
it contains a description of the new territory asked to be annexed
to the city of Ne,iaport Beach. That said territory is contiguous to
the city of Nevroort Beach and that said new territory does not form
any hart of any incorporated town or city.

That the city of I.evroort Beach has incurred and also further author-
ized the incurring of bonded indebtedness for the aquisition and
construction and also for the completion of municipal improvements
in and for the city of Newport Beach, some of ;rhich is now outstandi

in the price of pipe-and fittings; was filed.
Letter from the East Hewport _'o;.n Company relative to the property

carried that the President appoint the Board as a committee of the
whole to purchase the ripe and fittings and look after the cnstructi
on of the municipal Gas Distributing System.
Demands 7-775 to Ar857 inclusive, amounting to'$4,686.47 all approved
by the finance committee, were presented and were allowed and warran s
ordered dravn'on motion of trustee G.P.',,ilson seconded by trustee
H.A.Robinson, and carried.
Moved by trustee J.C.LcCain seconded by trustee Glenn Helms and
carried that the aork on -proposed ttreets at East Ilewport be delayed
one creek in order that the new members of the board might have time
to familarize themselves with the conditions.

of 0500.00 as provided'by ordinance.
Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee G.P.7,ilson and
carried that adjournment be t ken to 7.30 P.M. Monday Ilay 8th, 1916.
