City Hall, Newport Beach, Cal. July 24th, 1916.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 7:30 P.M. date and place above shown.
President Jumper called the meeting to order and the roll was called
showing there were present trustees; S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P.
Wilson, H.A.Robinson and J.C.McCain, Absent None.
The minutes of the meeting of July 10th, were read and approved.
Communications were read and referred to proper -order of business.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS;
Resolution T 57 was the presented for considera-
tion and on .motion of trustee G.P.Wilson seconded by trustees H. A.
Robinson and carried, the roll was called, and said Resolution 7#57
being a resolution of the city of Newport Beach entitled as follows;
A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the city of Ne�,roort Beach
ordering certain work to be done on portions of First Street, Second
Street, Third Street, Fourth Street, Bay Avenue, Montero Avenue,
Anade Avenue, Island Avenue, and Lindo Avenue, in the City of Newpor
Beach, and determining that bonds shall be issued to represent the
cost thereof, and declaringthe work or improvement to be of more tha
local or ordinary public benefit, and the expense•of said work or
improvement shall be assessed upon a district, was passed by the
following roll call; Ayes; Trustees; S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P.
Wilson, H.A.Robinson, J.C.McCain, Voes; None Absent; None;
President Jumper thereupon declared Resolution # 57 Passed.
NEW BUSINESS;
Trustee J. C. McCain presented for consideration
resolution 7#58 being a resolution concerning the construction of a
jetty at the entrance to Newport Harbor, and for the improvement of
the entrance to said harbor, the resolution was taken under general
discussion by the board of trustees, referred to the city attorney
to put the same into proper form for final cohsideration by the
Board of Trustees.
A letter from the Balboa Water Show Association was read in which
they petitioned the board of trustees relative to the water show
carnaval to be held August 10- 11 -12- & 13, 1916 first; for a waiver
of the license ordinance for concessions during the period,
Second; for a waiver of the fire ordinance relating to canvass bldgs,
Third for permission to run modified games of chance for profit,
Fourth; for permission to run motor boats with onen exhausts,
Fifth; For permission for the restricted use of certain streets bet-
ween Adama and "A" Streets for concessions and the construction of
temporary arches. Moved by Trustee, J.C.McCain seconded by Trustee,
G. P. Wilson and carried that requests Nos 4:& 5 be granted.
A letter from the State Board of Controlwas read accepting two more
of the Gas Distribi,ting System Bonds,Moved by trustee J.C.McCain
seconded by trustee, G.P.i7ilson and carried that the Clerk write
the State Board of Control asking them to take three of the bonds
instead of two and authorizing the President, Treasurer and Clerk
to sign the bonds.
Moved by trustee, H. A. Robinson seconded by trustee, J.C.McCain
and carried that the application of "1.T.O'Howell for license to
operate a pool room and box ball alley be granted.

Pasadena, inviting them to picnic here on Labor Day.

Moved by Trustee Glenn Helms, seconded by Trustee, J.C.McCain and
carried that the salaries of all Deputy Marshal's and - Policemen be
discontinued from and after the first day of August 1916 and that
any additional Policemen hereafter appointed by the City Marshal
with the concurrance of the President of the Board of Trustees shall
be for one day only and his compensation shall be $3.00 per day.
Leopold Goepper repgrted progress on the work of circulating a peti-
tion among the property owners East of Hain Street in Balboa as
authorized by the Board of Trustees in connection with the Bulkhead
and stated that hacked nihe'.of having 50% signed up for bulkhead
President Jumper ordered &Ir Goepper to proceed until he w_& at least

Moved by trustee H. A. Robinson seconded by trustee Glenn Helms and
carried that the demand of I. B. Funk in the sum of 1300.00 as
payment in full of all claims against the City be allowed and a
warrant drawn to cover and the money be taken from the Gas Distribut
System Fund to cover.
Moved by trustee, G.P..Wilson seconded by trustee. H.A.Robinson.and
carried that adjournment be taken sine -die. Adjourned.,/). D
