City Hall, Newport Beach, Cal. March 12th, 1917.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 7 :30 P.M. Honday >, '?arch 12th, 1917. •
President Jumper called the meeting to order and the roll was caller
showing there were present trustees, S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P.
Nilson, H.A.Robinson, Absent: Trustee, J.C.McCain.'
Reading o£ hrinutes; Minutes of the meeting of IViarch 5th, 1917 were
r and approved.
Committee reports: Lew H. FVallace reported favorably in regard to
the matter of the new high power line of the P.L.& P.Corp'n across
the Bay at the "harrows ".
Communications were read and referred to proper order of business.

The Ferry Franc ise ma er came up again for
consideration, together with the recommendation of the City attorne;
which was read, it was moved by trustee, G.P.',Vilson seconded by
trustee Glenn Helms and carried that the matter be placed in the
hands of a committee to confer with the applicant for the franchise
and that it be then referred to the city attorney to be put in
proper form.

Letter from Mr. Turner of Santa. Ana in regard to the
wrecking of his present cement walk to be replaced by the pile
su_n ported wooden walk proposed along the Ocean Front, was referred
to Lew H. Wallace for reply.
Extension of time Johnson Shea Cc: Moved by trustee G.P.'ilson
seconded by trustee Glenn Helms and carried that the application
of Johnson Shea Co, for an extension of 60 days time on,their
contract at East Newport be granted.
Harding Bulkhead Letter Letter from F. W. Harding in regard to the
proposed bulkhead along the Ocean Front at Balboa was referred to
the committee of o has the matter in cher�e.(G.P.17. & J.C.mcCI
Invitation Fire Dept Mr. R. 1.1. Durkee extended an invitation to
the Board of Trustees and City Of "icials and their families.to be
present at at party to be given by the fire De-oartment on Wednesday
evening Irarch 14th, 1917, at the Newport Hotel.
Santa-Ana Canyon Road; J. P. Greeley addressed the Board relative
to the Santa Ana Canyon Road and stated that the board of Super-
visors had granted the Contractor an extension of time on his cont-
ract, and in view of the possibility that this road may be tied up
into the summer months, thru the granting of this extension of time
recommended that a committee be appointed to take the matter up witk
the Supervisors, and "that they be requested to take any possible
measures to have the road opened in time for the summer season.
Moved by trustee C.P.i7ilson seconded by trustee, H.A.Robinsox
and carried that the matter be referred to the City attorney to
prepare a resolution protesting any further delay to the completion
of this road and that the same be presented to the Board of
Supervisors of Orange County.
Adjourn; Moved by trustee Glenn Hlems,.seconded by trustee, H.A.
Robinson and carried that adjournment be taken to 2:00 P.M.
