The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Peach met in .regular
session 7 :30 P.M..,;date and place above named. Claude 1.I. Crego,
Clerk of the city, being absent, S.R.Jumper,.President of the Board
of Trustees, appointed Trustee George P. ;Wilson, Clerk pro tem.
The roll was.called and the following named,trustees were present:
S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, "Geo P. ":Tilsen, H.A.RobinQon, and J.C.McCaic
' The reading of the minutes of the meeting of the "oard of
Trustees of April 2nd, 1917, disrensed with. The Board of trustees
proceeded to a. consideration of the regular order of business.
A communication from city Electrician S.L.Collins concernir.
the placing of light bases over the present metal,boxes now in the
sidewalk was received, considered and the city electrician was ins -
tructed to have light bases placed at the proper places.
The request of J. A. Porter, City ITarshal, for a racation
commencing April 10th, 1917, to and including April 24th, 1917,
was received, together with a request that tha appointment of '.7m
Ulrich as Deputy P, ?arshal be approved by the Board, and on request
of Trustee J.C.LIcCain the roll -was called and the appointment of
:m Ulrich as a deputy marshal during the absence of J.'.Porter,
I.Iarshal, was approved by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees Glenn Nelms, H.A.Robinson, Geo. P.Wilson
Noes, Trustees S.R.Jumper, J.C.McCain
Absent, i!one
On motion of H.A.Robinson, seconded by trustee J.C.1;1cCain, leave
of absence as requattdd by the ?:larshal was granted.
The rerort of the committee of the whole of tLe' Board of Trustees
to whom was referred Resolution of Intention No. 74 was received
' read, considered, and ordered filed.
Resolution of Intention No. 74, being entitled as follows:
" A Resolution of the city council of the city of
Fewport Beach declaring that the public interest
and also the public convenience requires an imp-
rovement to be made within the bounds of such city,
declaring its intention to order the imnrovemen.t
to be made, describing the improvement, the land
deemed necessazy to be taken therefor, specifying
the exterior boundaries of the district of lands
to be benefited by said improvement and to be asse-
ssed to pay the damages, cost and exr,enses thereof,
directing the giving of notice, and designating the
newspaper in which Notice shall be published."
having been placed in proper condition for final consideration by
the Board of Trustees was returned by the city attorney, received,
read, and considered, and on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,
seconded by trustee Glenn Helms, the roll was called and Resolution
of Intention No. 74 was passed by the vote of the following named
Trustees, to -writ:
Ayes, Trustees S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, H.A.R,obinso
J.C.McCain, and Geo P..7ilson.
Noes, None
Absent, None
S.R.Jumper President of the Board of Trustees thereupon decl,,.red
Resolution of Intention No. 74 passed, signed and approved the same.
The request of the Parent- Teachers Association for the enactment of
an ordinance concerning the wearing of cloaks over the bathing suit
in public placed was referred to a committee consisting of Trustees
J.C.McCain and Geo. r. 'Nilson, Lirs S.McKinney, Ieirs. F.J.Knight,
and 1.Irs. Jasper.
Ordinance No. 130 establishing the grade of a portion of Surf
Avenue was read for the second time and on motion of Trustee Glenn
Helms, seconded by Trustee H.A.Robinson, the roll was called and

Ordinance No. 130,was passed by the.vote.of the ffollowing named
trustees, to -wit: Ayes, Trustees S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, H.A.Robinson
J.C.McCain and Geo. P.Wilson.
Noes, None

S.R.Jumper, President of the Board of Trustees, thereupon declared
Ordinance No. 130 passed, signed and approved the same.
Resolution of Intention No. 75 was introduced, read, considered and
on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson, seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain I ,
the roll was called, and Resolution of Intention No. 75 was passed j
by the vote of the following named Trustees, To -wit:
Ayes, Trustees, S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, H.A.Robinson,
J.C.Mccain, amd Geo. P.Wilson.
Noes, None
Absent, None
On motion of trustee Glenn Helms, seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson
and carried, the Bard of Trustees adjourned to the hour of 7:30
o'clock P.M. of I:Ionday, April 16th, 1917.
