Reeding of Conaunicwtioas.
Communications,were read and referred to the proper order of
business.
Unfinished Business.
:Terry Pranchise Ordinance.
Ordinance No.132 granting Ferry Franchise to E.D.Rogers was
read by the City Attorney. It was moved by Trustee '.ilson,seconded
by Trustee McCain that said Ordinance No.132 be passed. On calling
' the roll the following Trustees responded "Aye ": H.A.Robinson,
J.J.Schnitker, Geo.P.'.Wilson, J.C.McCain and J.P.Greeley.
Noes none,absent none.
Bathing Suit Ordinance.
Ordinance No.133 for the regulation of bathing suits was con-
sidered and motion made by Trustee Wilson,seconded by Trustee
Schnitker that the same be passed. On roll call the following
Trustees voted "Aye ": H.A. Robinson ,J.J.Schnitker,Geo.P.;9ilson,
J.C.McCain and J.P.Greeley, "Noes" none, Absent none.
Opening of Jetty Bids.
Two bids were filed for the construction of the Jetty,one by
R.H.Arnold Co. of Los Angeles and one by W.M.Ledbetter of Los
Angeles. The former was `"2.69 per ton for the first 33,000 tons-of
rock in placef$2.49 for the nest 10,000 tons and 52.39 for the
subsequent 10,000 tons. The bid of 77.M.Ledbetter was .2.36 for the
first 40,000 tons of rock and 51.64 for subsequent tonnage. In the
discussion that followed Pnr.Ledbetter agreed that he would allow
the city 90V per ton in case it should desire to pay the freight.
It was moved by Trustee Greeley,seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
carried that the Board of Trustees,the Harbor Commission,I.Ir.Barnard
and the bidders meet as a committee of the whole at the City Hall
at-7:30 p.m. 'nednesday night,June 6th,£or tine further consideration
of the bids,and that the Clerk be instructed to notify the Harbor
Commission composed of I.Polhamus, 1.L.Jordan, Capt.Ricker, 7`.77.
Crosier and John 1.1cMillan, and also the City Engineer Paul E.1Lressl .
Resolution No.80 :aaood.
Resolution No. 80,changing and re- establishing the grades of
certain portions of Surf Ave.was passed by motion of Trustee Greele-,
seconded by Trustee Wilson.
Demands road : ni -..-rovod.
Demands covering items for the month of P.Iay were read. It was
moved by Trustee Greeley,seconded by Trustee T7ilson and carried that
the demands be allowed and warrants ordered draimn to cover.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,Calif.met
in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on the date and at the place above
mentioned with President H.A.Robinson presiding.
The roll was called and the following Trustees responded "PY'ea6i
H- A.Robinson, J.J.Schnitker, GeO.P.Wilson, J.C.McCain and J.P.Greele

The minutes of May 28th were read and approved.
Monthly ReyDorts of Heads of Departments.
The monthly reports of the heads of departments were read and
on motion of Trustee 'Wilson seconded by Trustee McCain were accepted
by the Board. -
Re_rort of Drinking.Fountain Committee.
Trustee Greeley for the Drinking Fountain committee,recommended
the placing in different parts of the city five drinking fountains
similar to the ones at the school house.
Moved by Trustee P+ilson,seconded by Trustee EcCain,and.carried
that the report be accepted and that the Street Superintendent be
instructed to have the fountains installed.

brackets on poles of the Pacific Light and Power Corp.and the
Pacific Tel.& Tel.Co.was referred to the City Electrician and I
the Street Committee.
Letter-of St-te Kailro: -d ,.Commis =sion regarding petition of railroads
for increase in freight rates was filed.
Lett::-r of JOSe,7h Foruson asking for permission to cross side -walk
with a motor vehicle was acted upon by the Board by motion of
Trustee Wilpon,seconded by Trustee Greeley and carried that
such permission be granted.

C.L.Lancester for the office of City Clerk were all is -id over
for one week by motion of Trustee Greeley,seconded by Trustee
[Nilson and carried by vote of the Board.
Report of Coast Boulevard Committee.
The report of t:ce Coast Boulevard Committee was presented and
discussed.It was moved by Trustee Greeley,seconded by Trustee
. rilson and carried that the report of the Committee be accepted,
the Committee be discharged,and that the Clerk be instructed td
notify the Board of Supervisors of the action taken by the Boa-
of Trustees and to transmit with such notification a,copy of the
written rei;ort of said Committee.

It was moved by Trustee Greeley, seconded by Trustee Schnitker
that the Clerk be instructed to make demand on the County Auditor
forerefund of Road tax paid on property of Balboa Island and
Newport Heights now taken into the City. I:Zotion carried.

It was moved by Trustee Greeley seconded by Trustee 17ilson tha
the City Engineer be instructed to make a survey for the open=
ing of a street from the western city limits of the City of
Newport Beach to 46th St,and located between the S.P.Railroad
tracks and the south ban]: of the Santa Ana River,and furnish
'the Board with a map of the location of said proposed street a
determined by him, and the estimated cost of the same.

The following is an extract from the minutes of June 11,1917:
The minutes of June 4,1917 were read and approved with the follow-
ing correction: In the statement in which it was noted,t1lat W.Bi.
Ledbetter had agreed to deduct 90d from the contract price in the
event the city should desire to pay the freigbt,it should read that
both bidders had made such agreement. ,
