City Hall,Newnort Beach,Calif.,April 22,1918, 7 :30 P.M.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,Cal. met in
regular session at the place and on the date above indicated.
On calling the roll the following Trustees responded "Present ":
Trustees J.P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.wilson,J.C.McCain and
L.S.Wilkinson. Absent,none.
The minutes of April 15th were read and approved with correcti
' Report of the Dredging Committee was made by Trustee J.J.Schnitker
and the committee discharged.
The City Engineer reported progress in making Channel Survey a
soundings.
It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,Seconded by Trustee L.S.
Wilkinson and carried that the'Board as a committee of the whole,
meet Friday,3:30 P.M.,P_pril 26th,to discuss the matter of the site
Tot'the's8wage, treatment plant.
Communications were read and referred to the proper order of busines .
It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee L.S
Wilkinson and duly carried that the matter of filling the appointive
offices of the city be laid over until the first regular meeting in
May except that of City Attorney.
It was moved by Trustee J.J.3chnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.Mcd
Cain and duly carried that Clyde Bishop be employed as City Attorney
for the ensuing term at a salary of §75.per.month beginning May 1,
1918.
Communications were disposed of as follows:
The letter of Geo.T7.Kleiser,Director of Advertising,Federal Fooc
Commission of California,was referred to the Street Department.
The letter of Dr.Albert Soiland regarding taxation of pleasure
craft in Newport Bay was referred to the City Clerk for reply.
The letter of Ida M.Stearna requesting that the license for an
entertainment be waived,was referred to the city clerk with the
instruction that the request could not be granted.

The demand of F.B.Sanders for $65.18 on the City of Newport Beac
for material used by the street lighting department,was referred to
the Street Superintendent and City Electrician.
The letter of the Pacific Tank & Pipe Co. requesting definite
action in the matter of tank on Balboa Island,was referred to the
Water Committee for reply.
The application of W.W.Wilson for the position of City Recorder
and that of Art L.Heard as City Plumbing Inspector were read.
STANDING COMMITTEES APPOINTED.
President J.P,Greeley appointed the following standing commi
Finance Committee, J.J.Schnitker and L.S.Wilkinson.
Street Committee, J.C.McCain and Geo.P.Wilson.
Fire.,Gas & Water Committee,L.S.Wilkinson and J.C.McCain.
Police Committee, Geo.P.Wilson and J.J.Schnitker.
ADVERTISING FOR DREDGING BIDS ORDERED.
It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.
McCain.and carried that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids
for the dredging of the channel in Newport Bay.
By motion made by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee
J.J.Schnitker and carried the Board adjourned sin-e_die,
