The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regu-
lar session at the hour and place above mentioned.
The roll =was called and the following Trustees
Trustees J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Geo.
Wilkinson; absent J. C. McCain.
The communications were read.

The request of 1.7m. E. Spofford to move his shoe shop from Ares(
location to wharf leased from C. P. Clifford was referred to a com-
mittee to be appointed by the Chairman, by motion made by Trustee
L. S. Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried.
The Chairman appointed Trustees Geo. P. i7ilson and J. C. McCain
as such committee, with the request that they report next meeting.
The petition of Pars. Cora Bassett Wilkinson in behalf of the res -
ients of Newport Heights , asking for water service, was referred to
the "later Committee.
ORDINANCE No. 144.
It was moved by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and seconded by Trustee
L. S. Wilkinson that Ordinance No. 144 be placed on final passage.
On calling the roll the following Trustees voted "Aye ": J. P.
Greeley, J. J. Schinitker, Geo. P. Wilson, L. S. 71ilkinson.
-Noes, none; absent Trustee J. C. I1cCain.
By motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee J. J,
Schnitker and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to draw up an
agreement for the Pope Shipbuilding Corporation coverinm the manner o:
payment of the 10% withheld until the completion of their contract.
The matter of purchasing more incinerators for the city was
in the hands of the Street Committee with power to act.
This being the date for opening bids for the construction of a
sewer in the City of Newport Beach, bids were publicly opened, exam-
ined and declared, and the bid of The J. D. Kneen Construction Co.
being the only bid presented. By motion of Trustee L. S. 7ilkinson
seconded by Trus -tee J. J. Schnitker and carried, the same was ref-
erred to the Committee of the "Thole and the City Engineer.
It was moved by Trustee L. S. Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee
J. J. Schnitker and carried that the deed to ocean frontage now
held in escrow at the First National Bank of Newport Beach, be del-
ivered to the City Attorney to be filed for record by him if found
to be 0. K.
On the request of the City Attorney it was moved by- Trustee L. S.
Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Geo. P. 'ilson and carried, that the
Clerk be instructed to deliver to the City Attorney for his use, a
deed of the Newport Land Company to certain property on Balboa Island.
Adjournment vies taken by motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson,
seconded by Trustee J. J. Schnitker and carried.
