The meeting was called *to order by President J.P. Greeley. The roll Was called showing the following Trustees present; J.P.Greeley, J.J.Schnitker, A.L.Heard, L.S.FJilkinson Absent J.C.IEicCain. Reading of the minutes of November 3rd. were read and there being no corrections,same were approved. The reports of the heads of Departments were read and on motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S. Wilkinson and carried, were accepted and ordered filed. No reports from any of the Special Committies,being made they were ordered continued. Reading of communications were read and referred to regular order of business. NEi° BUSINESS: A written petition was received asking that the boundar- ies of the City of Newport Beach be altered and certain new and uninhabited territory be annexed thereto, incorporated and-includ- ed therein. Witnesses were sworn and testified and documentary evidence was received and considered, from which evidence it appeared and the Board of Trustees of the City'of Newport Beach as the legislative body thereof found (1) the petition is signed by, qualified electors of the City of Newport�Beafh,more than one - tenth in number of the qualified electors of said CitIT computed unon the number of votes cast at the last general municipal election held therein. , (2) The new territory proposed to'be annexed is discribed in the petition; that it is contiguous to the City of Nei *rport Beach.; it is uninhabited territory, and forms no part of any incorporated city or term. It was therefor ordered that the petition be filed,; and without delay the Board of Suparvisors'of the'Countj of Orange that being the county- in which the City of Newport Beach is located be notified of the fact of the filing of such petition, and the Clerk was instucted to ca rry out such order. ORDIPI:II�E NUTVIBER 187. Ordinance number 157 was presented being an ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,establishing the grades and curb lines on Channel P}ace and River Avenue, and on certain pottions of 39th. Street, 40th.Street, 41st. Street 42nd. Street 43rd. Street, 44th.Street and 45th. Street within said City. And upon motionof Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson, 'and carried was passed to second readinv,. ORDINANCIS NU1,I?dER 1580 Ordinance number 158 was presented being an ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beaeh,declaring vacant for public street and public way purposes a certain portion of the Rhine within said City. And upon motion of Trustee L.S.67ilkinson seconded by Trustee A.L.Heard,and carried was passed to second reading. RESOLUTION NLrnME2 125. A resolution by the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach, changing and re- establisi�ing the grades of a cer- tain portion of 31st. Street in said City. On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson, the foregoing resolution was adopted by the followingvote to -wit: Ayes Trustees J.P.Greeley, J.J.Schnitker, A.L.Heard and L.S.Wilkinson Noes None, Absent J.C.McCAin. On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee _Y.L.Heard,and carried, that the petition for a sewer system on Balboa Island be reffered to the City Engineer�va �o. w On motion of .Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson and Carried, that the City Attotney be empowered to fact to bring suit against the property oi-vners of Lots 1, 2, 3,and 4 in Block 130 Lake Tract in the City Of Newport Beach to perfect the deeds,now held by the said City. Bids were opened for pipe and supplies for the water department,and Crane Co. of hos AnSeles being the lowest, they were awarded the order on motion of TrustecA.L.Heard seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitkor and carried, subject to the approval of the water superintendent. 346 On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson•and carried, That the City Clerk be authorize to order the Sreet Bonds from NetAer &Co. at the price quoted by them. On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S.7ilkinson, and carried That the garba e contract be extended for one year to Harry ward and his check for Fifty Dollars be ac- cepted for same. On motion of J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee A.L.Heard and carried, that the Clerk be appointed Purcha "sing Agent for the City, and the heads of the different Departments not to do any ' purchasing withbut getting a requisition from the Purchasing Agent and approved by him. On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker-seconded by Trustee L.S.i9ilkinson and Carried, that all bills carrying a discount for cash be paid by the Clerk upon the approval of three members of the Board of Trustees. Motion duly made by Trustee A.L.Heard Seconded by Truste J.J.Schnitker and carried; Demands 7#460•to '#,540 for the month of November having been signed and approved by the Finance Committe -be allowed and warrants drawn. Upon motion duly made by Trustee L.S.117ilkinson seconded `Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried, that the Clerk be insructed t clear the upstairs vault of obselete matter and file same in the vault down stairs; also to obtain the necessary equipment to be used in doing same, and to provide shelving and racks in the upp vault to accomodate all the books, maps and other documents that should be kept there.
