City Hall, Newport,Beach, Cal..March 8th. 1920.
-The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
adjourned session at 7.30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Presidept J.P.Greeley.
The roll was called showing the following Trustees present
J.P.Greeley, J.J.Schnitker, A.L.Heard, L.S.Wilkinson. Absent J.C.
McCain.
• Reading of the minutes of Mebeh lst.were read and there be-
no corrections or omissions same were approved,,and so ordered.
Report of the Street Committee was read, and no action take .
same was filed.
Communications were read and referred to the regular order
of-business.
The communication from the Railroad Commission stating that
there would be a hearing March 25th. in,Los Angeles in regards to th
Southern California Edison Co. toraise there rates. The following
motion was made by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson seconded by Trustee J.J.
Schnitker, and carried, that Trustee J.P.Greeley.and Mr. Lew H. Wal-
lace be appointed a committee of two to attend such meeting at the
expense of the City.
On motion by Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S.
Wilkinson and carried, That a pontoon buoy be purchased from Wilson
Bros. Commercial Co.at the cost of Twenty -five Dollars and placed
to mark channel near the entrance to the Bay. Size of buoy to be
3x2xl feet with standard and anchor, same lines as minature sample
exhibited.
On motion.by Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee A.L.
Heard and carried, requesting Wilson Bros Com'1 Co. to remove a
certain channel stake where the channel has filled up, as it is a
menace to navigation where it is.(Mr. Rohen ¢ Seeertary of Wilson
Bros Com'1 Co. was present and said they would do same witkout cost
to the City.)

ORDINANCE #1620
Ordinance # 162 "9n Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach
declaring the operation or playing of any musical instument, device
or contrivance for producing music, during certain hours of the nigh
time to constitute a misdemeanor, and providing a penalty for all
violations thereof." Was presented to the Board for final passage.
On motion of Trustee A.L.Heard that the above Ordinance be
amended as follows: Section 1. the time changed to one o`clock A.M.
ind six o'clock A.M. There being no second, motion was lost.
No action was taken on the Ordinance.

fixing the compensation of the Clerk and Treasurer thereof." Was

Schnitker, A.L.Heard, L.S.Wilkinson. Noes None, Absent J.C.MeCain.
Motion duly made by Trustee A.L.Heard seconded by Trustee
L.S.Wilkinson and carried, That the Clerk advertise for bids for one
Dodge Truck Chasis.
ORDINANCE #164. Was intoduoed and presented to the Board off Trustees
On motion by Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S.
Wilkinson and carried,pame was passed to second reading.
ORDINANCE #165.
Ordinance #165 was introduced and presented to the Board ofi
Trustees, an ordinance to amend ordinance #110. On motion by Trustee!
L.S.Wilkinson seconded by Trustee A.L.Heard and carried, same was paos-
to second reading.

On motion by Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee A.
L.Heard and carried, That the Clerk procure from the County Clerk a
list of the registered election officers; for -use at the Municipal
Election Apl.12th.
Motion duly made by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson seconded by Trustee
A.L.Heard and carried, That the.Clerk have,the window blinds and transoms
repaired in the City Hall.
On motion by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson seconded by Trustee J.J.
Schnitker and carried, That the City Engineer be instucted to report to
the Board of Trustees at the earliest the approximate cost of raisingi
the official grade of the City of Newport Beach; also the height he
would suggest to raise it to.
On motion by T ustee J.J.Sehnitker seconded by Trustee L.S.
Wilkinson and carried, TRat the Clerk write to Major Downing and infoia
him that Wilson Bros Comll Co. had not removed the wreck of the
Fremont" from the channel, and the time limit March 8th. bad expired.
On motion by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson seconded by Trustee J.J.
Sehnitker � e ried That Demands #795 to # 801 inclusive, having
been signed,by�anee Committee be allowed and Warrants drawn. alk.„•
On motion made by Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by TrusteeA
and carried, meeting was duly adjourned to Monday evening March 22nd.
