The matter of the number of street signs was discussed and it was thought that the ocean front and perhaps some of the other street might not need signs. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the Chair was asked to appoint a representative from each end of town as a committee to reduce the number of signs to the limit, but to use as many as needed on the main arteries in the City. The Committee are Trustees J. J. Schnitk r abd Geo. P. Wilson. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. The bid of W. M. Ledbetter Company for completion of the jetty was taken up and discussed, and it was the unanimous opinion that it was too high. On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the bid was rejected. Harbor Master Beek was present and reported for the committee appointed to look after the dredging for the water and gas lines in the bay, that the dredger people would not consider a yardage basis but would charge at the rate of $55.00 per hour. Mr. White thought it would take about 7 or 8 hours to do the dredging. The old pipe lines in the bay had delayed the dredger about 7 hours, but he%and Mr. Mc Millen had laid out a course for the water and gas lines whereby the old pipes would not be disturbed in dredging across the bay. Trustee Schnitker thanked the Board on behalf of himself and sister for their expressions of sympathy in his time of sorrow. Harbor Master Beek referred to the shallow water between the mainland and Balboa Island at low tide upon which boats ground frequently, and wanted to know if the City would furnish some assistance in dredging a turning basin if he could raise part of the cost from people interested at Balboa. The matter was discussed and on motion of Trustee Conrad Riuii VI seconded by Trustee J. J. Schnitker and carried, Mr. Beek was instructed to make a canvas of the property owners at Balboa to see what he can raise, and the City will furnish dollar for dollar only that he raises.
