City Hall, Newport Beach, Dec. 2, 1920.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
special session at 3:00 o'clock P. M. on above date.
The roll was called as follows: Present, Trustees J. P.
Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Geo. P. Wilson, Conrad Richter, L. S.
lilkinson. Absent, Trustees, none.
The call of the special meeting was ordered filed and City
,ttorney Bishop referred to the business embodied in the call, which
ias entering into an agreement with the Southern Counties Gas Co.
.'or the construction of a cable line to support the water and gas
.ines across the mouth of the Santa Ana River. The agreement as
[yawn up by Mr. Ames, Attorney for the Gas Company, was that they
could go ahead and have the structure built, the City to stand 910
if the cost and the Gas Company 110, the City's portion to be paid
.n 6 monthly installments; when said payments are completed the Gas
ompany would give the City an undivided 910 interest in the
; tructure.
The matter was discussed at length, and the City Attorney
[rafted the following clauses which�he suggested adding to the
agreement: A clause permitting the City to use theit-pipe line
.'or any other liquids they desired and the privilege of leasing same
;o others; Also the clause that if the City decided to abandon the
Lee of the water line, the Gas Company was to have the first option
if purchase at 910 of its then appraised value. The exact cost of
;he construction was also to be stated in the agreement.
On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo.
. Wilson and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to insert the
;lauses as sketched in the contract; the cost of construction not to
exceed $1600.00, and Mr. Thompson was to get the work done as much
.ess as possible.
