The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
,regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The President
:of the Board being absent on motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson
seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, Trustee J. J.
Schnitker was elected chairman for the evening.
' Chairman Schnitker called the meeting to order and the roll
;was called as follows: Present, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, Geo. P.
Wilson, Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson. Absent Trustee J.P.Greele
This being a legal Holiday on motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilso
.seconded by Trustee L. S. Wilkinson and carried, the meeting adjourn
�to Tuesday, July 51 1921 at 7:30 o'clock P..M.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach me in
regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting
ivas called to order by President J. P. Greeley.
j The roll was called as follows: Present, Trustees J. P.
Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Geo. P. Wilson, Conrad Richter, L. S.
Wilkinson. Absent. Trustees None.
The minutes of the previous adjourned meeting and the regular
meeting of July 4th were read and approved.
The reports from the heads of the various departments for the
month of June and also the yearly reports were read, and on motion of
Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and
carried, the reports were accepted and ordered filed.
The communications were read and referred to the proper order
of business.
NEW BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo.
P. Wilson and carried, the 30 applications for business and game
licenses were granted, with the proviso that the license collector is
to insert the correct location on those applications where it is not
already given.
' The communication from the Women's Civic League asking that
a Park Committee be appointed from the City to meet with their
{committee, was taken up and on motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson
seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, such a committee was
to be appointed.

Trustee Richter presented a petition from the people living of
tIewport Heights asking the City to try and help them get electric
lights from the Edison Company's new sub - station on South Main Street,
and on motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and carried, the Clerk was instructed to correspond with the
Edison Company in regard to the extension of the-.K'osta PIesa line to
Newport Heights.

Messrs. Noland, Garrigues and Crofts were present protesting
against the raising of the license on games to §100.00. The same
was discussed but as it is too late to amend the Ordinance so as to
derive any benefit from it this year, no action was taken.
Harbor Master Beek presented his monthly report and on motion
of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and
carried, the report was ordered filed and his action in regard to
obtaining an oil barge for the bay was approved. '
Harbor Master Beek also stated that the speed boat ovmers havqi
agreed to abide by the Ordinance and keep within the limit of speed,
provided in same.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo.
P. Wilson and carried, the recommendation of the Harbor Master to
replace three star buoys at the entrance of the channel with can buoys
was adopted and he was instructed to go ahead and try one out before;
making the balance.
H. L. Sherman referred to his application for a permit to build
a float at the end of J. T. Ferres pier. which was referred to the City
Engineer, and thought the matter should not be held up longer waiting
for the Engineer to return from his vacation. The matter was
discussed at length and on motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded
by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, Mr. Sherman was permitted to
start construction of the float subject to the interpretation of the
City Engineer when he returns, and if contrary to the law they would
have to remove it.
The President referred back to unfinished business.
ORDINANCE NO. 186.
An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach fixing the '
salary of the Recorder thereof"
was taken up, read, finally considered and on call of the
roll passed by the following vote, to -wit:
Ayes, Trustees J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
The Ordinance was thereupon signed and approved by the
President of the Board of Trustees and attested by the Clerk.
This being the day and hour fixed for opening the bids for i
the sale of the bonds of Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the
City of Newport Beach; the President ordered the bids opened but the
Clerk reported that no bids had been received.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Geo.
P. Wilson and carried, the matter of permits for other piers asked
for along the bay front were referred to City Engineer Kressly with
power to act.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee
Geo. P. Wilson_ and carried, demands No. 965 to 1050 inclusive having
been signed and approved by the Finance Committee, be allowed and
warrants drawn for same.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee J.. I
J. Schnitker and carried, the meeting adjourned Sine Die.
