On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
carried, that demands No. 449 to 534 inclusive having been signed an
approved by the Finance Committee, be allowed and warrants drawn fort
same.
Trustee Richter brought up the matter of an assessment distri t
for dredging near the Yacht Club,,and City Attorney Bishop stated he
did not think we could make an additional assessment district in
Municipal Improvement District No. 1. The matter was discussed but
action was deferred until next meeting.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and
carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 P. M. on Monday, Jan. 9, 1922

City Hall, Newport Beach, Jan. 9, 1922.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting
was called to order by President Greeley.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the previous meeting of January 2, 1922 were
read and approved.
The communications were read and referred to the proper
order of business.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson
and carried, the City* Clerk was instructed to write to the East
Newport Town Co. and ask them for a quitclaim deed to a Lot 30 x 50 Eeet
adjoining Lot 1, Block 3 of East Newport on the east, which was vacated
for street purposes by Resolution No. 29. '�
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker a
carried, the map of Tract No. 211 being a subdivision of the Nly 5
acres of the Swly 10 acres of the J. A. Day Tract, coming within the
three mile limit of Newport Beach, was approved.
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Schnitker an
carried, Fire Chief Jackson was authorized to purchase a new battery
for the fire truck and have the old one repaired.
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Wilson and
carried, the salary* of the Fire Chief was raised from $15.00 to q$25.
per month.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Richter and
carried, Trustee Burke was authorized to attend the meeting of the
Consulting Board of the State Water Resource Investigation to be hel
at Pasadena.on January* 16th, with expenses paid by the City.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson
carried, the request of I. Jacobson to repair his pier was referred
to the City Engineer for his approval.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson, th(
revised,agreement with the Pacific Electric Railway Co. for an
basement covering two strips of irregular widths along their right -of-
�ay in Central Avenue from the Southern Pacific Crossing to "B" Street
Balboa, was accepted and the President and City Clerk were authorized
to sign the same by the following vote, to -wit:
Ayes, Trustees Greeley, Schnitker, Wilson, Richter, Burke.
' Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
On motion of Trustee Richter seconded by Trustee Wilson and
arried, the City Engineer was instructed to furnish the Board of
(Trustees at the earliest convenience with an estimate of the cost of
a new bridge across an arm of Newport Bay from Newport Road to
Ventral Avenue, according to the limitations as laid down by the
,War Department.
Trustee Schnitker introduced a Resolution determining and
claring that the public interest and necessity demands the acquisi-
on and construction by the City of Newport Beach of certain municip+
provements, the cost of which will be too great to be paid out of
e ordinary annual income and revenue of the City of Newport Beach.
The Resolution was ordered filed, read, designated Resolution
. 152 and submitted to the City Attorney for consideration,)
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson
d carried, the President and City Clerk were authorized to draw a
rrant in fauor'of Mr. Myers covering approximately* 4 acres of water.

On motion of Trustee Richter seconded bi* Trustee Burke and
carried, $2,000.00 was set aside out of the Water General Fund for th
' erection of a suitable building with cement foundation for the man in
charge of the pumping plant, and the City Engineer was asked to
�furnish plans for such a building.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker an
carried, the City Engineer was instructed to start proceedings for an
assessment district for paving, and outline the streets to be paved.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker
carried, the City Engineer was instructed to draw up plans and outl
Districts for cutting the corners of alleys as discussed.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson
pparried, the City Electrician was asked to prepare plans for using
�tooden poles for lights on the new Main Street Wharf at Balboa.
