City Hall, Newport Beach, Jan. 16, 1922.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting
was called to order by President Greeley.
Trustees Greeley, Schnitker, Wilson and Richter answered the
roll call; Absent, Trustee Burke.
The minutes of the previous adjourned meeting of Jan. 9, 1922 '
were read and approved.
REPORTS OF COI3MITTEES.
The written report of the City Electrician giving the
approximate cost of putting lights on the new Main Street Wharf of
$780.00 was read.
The communications were read and referred to the proper order
of business.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
The matter of a storage building for the Gas and Water Depts
was discussed, and on motion of Trustee Richter seconded by Trustee
Schnitker and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to draw up
plans for a building 25 x 40 for a garage, repairing of meters,
storing pipe, etc. on the old gas house site.
Resolution No. 152 which was introduced at the last meeting
concerning the building of a bridge across an arm of Newport Bay and
doing additional dredging, was discussed and referred to a committee
of the Whole with the City Treasurer and City* Engineer to report on
at the next meeting as to the length of bridge.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and '
carried, the City Electrician was asked to furnish plans and specifi;
cations for lighting the new Main Street pier at Balboa according to
his outline, and that we get bids on same.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
carried, the communication from the Women's Civic League in regard to
down- spouts on buildings was referred to the Street Superintendent.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and
carried, the City Clerk was instructed to notify idr. Beek, Secretarvl
of the Balboa Chamber of Commerce the way the minutes read in regard
to the matter referred to them at the last meeting, and for them to
take action accordingly. j
It was moved by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee
J. J. Schnitker that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans,
specifications, estimates and proceedings for the paving with concrete
of the following streets within the City of Newport Beach:
Central Avenue from Santa Ana River to B Street; Coast Boulevard
from 46th Street to Ocean Avenue; 30th Street from Ocean Avenue to
Central Avenue; 29th, 28th, 27th, 26th, 25th, 24th, 23d and 22d
Streets from Ocean Avenue to Coast Boulevard.; 26th Street from Central
Avenue to the Rhine; 21st Street from Bay Avenue to Central Avenue;
20th Street from Ocean Avenue to Central Avenue; 19th Street from
Ocean Avenue to Newport Bay; Bay Avenue from 19th Street to 21st I
Street; 4th Street from Central Avenue to Bay Avenue; Bay Avenue from
4th Street to 3d Street; Alvarado Street from Surf Avenue to Bay
Avenue; Alvarado Place from Bay Avenue to Newport Bay; Coronado Street
from Surf Avenue to Newport Bay; Fernando Street from Bay Avenue to
Newport Bay; Bay View Avenue from Bay Avenue to Newport Bay; Cypress
Street from Central Avenue to Bay Avenue; Harding Street from Cypress
Street to Adams Street; Adams Street, Palm Street, Washington Street,
Main Street, A- Street,and b- Street from Surf Avenue to Newport Bay;
Bay Avenue from Alvarado Street to Main Street, and Bay Avenue from
Main Street to A- Street. Also the surfacing with clay and gravel all
alleys between 9th Street and B- Street, and between Surf Avenue and
Newport Bay, excepting therefrom all alleys which have at present a
surfacing of clay and gravel thereon.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting

The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the previous meeting of January 16, 1922 were

The communications were read and referred to the proper order

UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and
ried, the City Attorney was instructed to start condemnation
ceedings against Mr. Myers covering the 4 acres of lend adjoining
pumping plant.
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Wilson and
ied, the City Attorney was instructed to start condemnation
eedings for acquiring the right -of -way for pipe line across the
fic Ranch Co. and Banning interests, the City Engineer to furnish
necessary maps, etc. for same.
City Engineer Kressly presented the plans for the house to be
ilt at the pumping plant, and on motion of Trustee Richter seconded
Trustee Nilson and carried, the plans were approved and adopted,
I the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on same, the

Treasurer Levi H. Wallace made a verbal report for the Committ

A petition containing 115 signatures asking that a gas retain r
e installed in the City of Newport Beach, was presented and discusse ,
nd on motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
arried, the matter was referred to the City Engineer and the Gas
anager to work out some solution to the problem.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Burke and
arried, the pommunication from Fred Chandler in regard to the bad
ondition of the alley between 30th and 33d Streets was referred to
he Street Committee and Street Superintendent.
