On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson
carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. P.R. on Monday,

City Hall, Newport Beach, Jan. 30, 1922.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting
ras called to order by President Greeley.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the previous meeting of January 16, 1922 were
read and approved.
The communications were read and referred to the proper order
if business.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and
ried, the City Attorney was instructed to start condemnation
ceedings against Mr. Myers covering the 4 acres of land adjoining
pumping plant.
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Wilson and
rried, the City Attorney was instructed to start condemnation
odeedings for acquiring the right -of -way for pipe line across the
eific Ranch Co. and Banning interests, the City Engineer to furnish
e necessary maps, etc, for same.
City Engineer Kressly presented the plans for the house to be
ilt at the pumping plant, and on motion of Trustee Richter seconded
Trustee Wilson and carried, the plans were approved and adopted,
3 the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on same, the
3s to be opened Feb. 20, 1922.
Treasurer Lew H. Wallace made a verbal report for the Committ e
the Whole on the length of bridge to be built by Resolution No. 15 ,
the Resolution was referred to the Cit3f Attorney to be put in
pe for final action of the Board.
A petition containing 115 signatures asking that a gas retain r
e installed in the City of Newport Beach, was presented and discusse ,
nd on motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
arried, the matter was referred to the City Engineer and the Gas
anager to work out some solution to the problem.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Burke and
: arried, the communication from Fred Chandler in regard to the bad
;ondition of the alley between 30th and 33d Streets Vas referred to
,he Street Committee and Street Superintendent.

The report of the Balboa Chamber 4ofYCommerce on the matter f f
referred to them brought forth a discussion of the Building Ord- inancl
No. 182 which had been tabled, and on motion of Trustee Richter
seconded by Trustee Wilson and carried, the City Clerk was asked to
give each member of the Board a copy of the Building Ordinance before
next Monday night.
NEW BUSINESS.
Treasurer Wallace made a verbal report in regard to the I

purchase of the Southern Pacific Wharf which their representative
had agreed to accept $5,000.00 for, which he would advise accepting.)
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and carried,
the report and recommendation of the Committee was accepted and j
adopted and Mr. Wallace was instructed to wire Mr. Leavitt their
representative that we would pay the X5,000.00 for the wharf and land
back to the Pacific Electric tracks, the City Engineer to furnish the
proper data to the City Attorney for forming Municipal Improvement I
District No. 2 from /Bth Street to 42d Street.

It was moved by Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker;
and carried, that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans,
specifications and proceedings for the construction of a board walk
12 feet in.width along Ocean Avenue from 9th Street to 19th Street.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson an
carried, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans, specifi -I
cations and proceedings for the construction of lateral sewers in the
alley situated between Ocean Avenue and Central Avenue and extending
from 19th Street to 14th Street,
It was moved by Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker
and carried, that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans
and profiles of all Streets located in Section 5 of Balboa Island and I
to prepare an Ordinance for establishing the official grades and curb
lines on said Streets.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and
carried, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans, specifi -I
cations and proceedings for the paving with concrete of the following;
streets: 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th from
Central Avenue to Ocean Avenue.

Mr. Shank of the Anaheim Plain Dealer presented a form of I
magazine which they were getting out for distribution and wanted the)
City to take a page of advertising in same at $100.00, and on motion
of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and carried, the
matter was taken under advisement and to get a written report from
Mr., Goble our publicity man in regard to same.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
carried, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans and specifi
fications for the equipment necessary.to carry out the plans for the)
water plant. I
On motion of Trustee Richter seconded by Trustee Burke and
carried, the City Clerk was instructed to notify the Southern
California Edison Co. that we have decided to put in the serial
system of lights so they can provide the necessary transformers, etc: '
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson j
and carried, the meeting adjourned Sine Die.
