City Hall, Newport Beach, Feb. 6, 1922.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. 11. on above date. The meeting
Nas called to order by President Greeley.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the previous meeting of Jan. 30, 1922 were
' ,ead and approved.
The reports of the heads of the various departments were read
�nd on motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Richter and
arried, the reports were accepted and filed.
. City Attorney Bishop made a verbal report that he would be
ble to get a Certificate of Title to the 4 acres of land adjoining
he punning plant without condemnation, and on motion of Trustee
chnitker seconded by Trustee Richter and carried, the action of the

The report of the City Engineer and Gas Manager in regard to
gas retainer was read, and on motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded
Trustee Wilson and carried, the report was accepted and filed and

Treasurer Wallace made a verbal report that the Southern
ific Officials at San Francisco had forwarded the City's offer to
New York Officials with the recommendation that.it be accepted,
on motffion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Burke and
ried, the report was accepted and the Committee continued.
The communications were read and referred to the proper order
f business.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee Wilson seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
arried, the request of I. Jacobson to repair his pier, having been
pproved by the City Engineer, was granted.
This being the day and hour fixed for opening bids for
ighting the Main Street Wharf at Balboa, the Board. in open session
pened, examined and declared all sealed bids received, which bids
re as follows:
Simberg Electric Co. complete per specifications, $748.00
Modjeska Electric Co. " if if 765.00
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
arried, the bid of Simberg Electric Co. was accepted and he was
warded the contract for lighting the wharf.
NEW BUSINESS.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson and
ied, the assessment diagram for dirting the alley between Coronad
et and Alvarado Place as presented by City Engineer Kressly was

Engineer Kressly were approved.
Trustee b9ilson introduced an ordinance establishing the
rades and curb lines of certain portions of Central Avenue and other
treets, and establishing the names of certain streets within said
ity. The Ordinance was ordered filed., read, considered, designated

RESOLUTION NO. 152, A resolution entitled as follows.

"A Resolution by the Board of Trustees, as the legislative
Branch of the City of Newport Beach, a city of this State
whose corporate limits include a harbor, determining that the
public interest and also the public necessity demands the
construction at, in, and for said city municipal improvements
necessary and convenient to carry out the objects, purposes
and powers of the bity of Newport Beach, the cost of which
will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual
income and revenue thereof,
was taken up for final action by the Board of Trustees, was, '
read and considered, the roil was called and Resolution No. 152 was
passed by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees Greeley, Schnitker, Wilson, Richter, Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
Resolution No. 152 having been passed by the votes of two -
thirds and more of all the members of the Board of Trustees, same was
approved by the President, signed and attested by the Clerk.
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Schnitker and
carried, the petition signed by a number of property owners at East
Newport in regard to vacating a portion of Bay Avenue,.was referred
to the Street Committee and City Engineer. -
On motion of Trustee Burke seconded by Trustee Wilson and
carried, the communication of C. H. Burnett of the Pacific Electric
Land Co. in regard to putting water and gas maitIs in the alley between
9th and 19th Streets, was referred to the Water Superintendent.
A motion by Trustee Richter seconded by Trustee Wilson
setting aside $50.00 in joining with the City* Attorney's Association
in an endeavor to lower the rates of the Southern California Edison
Co., was carried by.the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees, Greeley, Wilson, Richter. '
Noes, Trustees, Schnitker, Burke.
Absent, Trustees None.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Burke and
carried, the application of R. C. Bell for a concession on the end of
the Newport Beach wktarf was filed.
The application of Anthony C. 4iielch to serve as Judge of
election was referred to the Trustees from Precinct No. 1.
No action taken on the communication from Balboa Charaber of
Commerce asking that no concession be allowed on the Main St. Wharf.
The resolution of the Balboa Chamber of Commerce in regard t
advertising in the Newport Harbor Yacht Club Year Book was taken up
and on motion of Trustee Richter seconded by Trustee Wilson and II
carried,$60.00 was set aside out of the Advertising Fund for one pagd
of advertising in the year book, one -half page for each Chamber of
Commerce.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson aAd
carried, the perpetudl easement of the Pacific Electric Railway Co.
covering two strips of irregular widths along their right -of -way from
21st Street to B Street, was accepted and filed, and the President of{
the Board and City Clerk were authorized to sign the same.
On motion of Trustee Richter seconded by Trustee Schnitker i
and carried, that demands No. 541 to .626 inclusive having been signed ,
and approved by the Finance Committee, be allowed and warrants drawn
for same.
On motion of Trustee Schnitker seconded by Trustee Wilson
and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. ti. on Tuesday,]
February 14, 1922.
