Trustee 0. H. Burke introduced a proposed Ordinance granting to
the Standard Oil Co. the right to construct, maintain, operate and use a
spur track across Central Avenue and part of Eighteenth Street in the City
of Newport Beach. The Ordinance was ordered filed, considered, designated
Ordinance No. 202 and referred to the City Attorney.
The application of Vernon Ramella for a license to operate a I
lunch counter was laid over to the next meeting.
City Attorney Clyde Bishop was asked to prepare a Zoning Ordinance
to be presented next Monday night.
On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan
and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on the
amount of pipe and fittings asked for by the Water and Gas Departments,
The City Clerk was asked to take up the matter with the City
Electrician of laying the conduits in the streets before the paving is
done, and report at the next meeting.
On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan
and carried, the request of the Newport Harbor T.Tarine Corporation for
permission to extend the pier of J. T. Ferries 10 feet farther out, was
referred to the City Engineer for report.
On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded-'.by Trustee H. C. Sloan
and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. IJ. on Thursday,

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular
adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting was
called. to order by President J. J. Schnitker.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the previous meeting of April 24th were read and
approved.
REPORTS OF CO- :.ITTEES.
Trustee 0. H. Burke reported. for the Fire Committee recommending
the purchase of 400 feet of 211 Eureka Fire Hose at $1.30 per foot and
300 feet of 11" Eureka Fire Hose at 70� per foot, and on motion of Trustee
H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the report was
accepted and the Fire Committee and Fire Chief were authorized to purchase
the Hose at the prices named.
The matter of obtaining the dirt for the public camp ground from
the Citys' ten acres instead of buying it was left with the Street Committee
to investigate.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee O.H. Burke
and carried, 'the request of Theodore Robins to put a gasoline pump on the
curb line in front of Lot 4, Block 9 of Balboa Tract was granted.

The communications were read and referred to the proper order
of business.

IN THE SMATTER OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVE ?JiENT OF
CENTRAI, AVENUE AND OTHER STREETS AND AVENUES AND
CERTAIN ALLEM.
This being the time fixed by Resolution of Intention No. 168
passed April 11, 1922, for hearing protests in the matter of the
improvement and change of grade therein described, and certain
�. written protests having been filed with the City Clerk in said matter,
all of said protests were presented to and considered by the Board
of Trustees and all persons desiring to be heard in the matter of
said protests were heard by said Board, whereupon Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson moved that Resolution No. 174 entitled, "A Resolution over-
ruling protests in the matter of the improvement of Central Avenue
and certain other streets and avenues and certain alleys," be
adopted, which motion was seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and
carried by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H: C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None,
Absent, Trustees None.
Trustee Conrad Richter presented and moved the adoption of
Resolution No. 175 entitled, "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Newport Beach, ordering the improvement of Central
Avenue aid certain other streets and avenues,, and of certain alleys,
and the change of grade of certain portions thereof, under the
Improvement Act of 1911," which motion was seconded by Trustee 0. H.
Burke and carried by the following vote:
Ayes. Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None,
' Absent, Trustees None.
Trustee H. C. Sloan presented and moved the adoption of
Resolution No. 176 entitled, "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees
of the City of Newport Beach directing certain work or improvement
to be done under the direction of the City Engineer of said City,"
e which motion was seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried by
the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustee:Conrad Richter.
NMU BUSIURSS.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H.C.
Sloan and carried, the application of Rowland R. Hodgkinson for
license to operate a Restaurant on part of Lots 9, 10 and 11 in
Block 12 of Balboa Tract was granted..
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee 0. H.
Burke and carried, the application of Vernon Ramella for license to
operate a Lunch Counter on Lot 12 Block 9 of Balboa Tract was granted.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H.C.
Sloan and carried, the application of Mrs. Dorothy Bower for a
license to conduct the business of "Character Reading" in the City
of Newport Beach, was granted at the rate of $10.00 per day.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee O.H.
Burke and carried, the meeting adjourned Sine Die.
