City Hall, Newport Beach, May 1, 1922.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. P.I. on above date. The meeting
was called to order by President J. J. Schnitker.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the meeting of April 27th were read and approved.
The reports of the heads of the various departments were read
and on motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee 0. H. Burke
and carried, the reports were accepted and ordered filed.
The matter of automobiles running with their cut -outs open in
the City was referred to the Police Committee and City Marshal.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee 0. H.
Burke and carried, the plumbers bond of Nick Choich was accepted and
approved.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Trustee H. C. Sloan introduced a Resolution declaring it to be
the intention of the Board of Trustees to widen in part a certain alley
existing in Block 5 of.Balboa Tract as per map thereof recorded in Book
4, page 11, Idiscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California,
The Resolution was ordered filed, read, considered, designated
Resolution No. 177, the roll was called and the Resolution passed by the
vote of the following named members of the Board of Trustees, to -wit:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
Trustee Geo. P. Wilson introduced a Resolution declaring it to
be the intention of the Board of Trustees to widen in part three certain
alleys existing in a subdivision of Block "C" of Newport Bay Tract as
per map thereof recorded in Book 5, page 25, Miscellaneous Flaps, Records
of Orange County, California.
The resolution was ordered filed, read, considered, designated
Resolution No. 178, the roll was called and the Resolution passed by the
vote of the following named members of the Board of Trustees, to-wit:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
ORDINANCE NO. 202, entitled as follows:
"An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach granting to
the Standard Oil Co., a California Corporation., the right
to construct, maintain, operate and use a spur track across
Central Avenue and a part of Eighteenth Street, public
streets in the City of Neiaport Beach," which was intro-
duced and read the first time at the meeting of the Board of Trustees
held on the 24th day of April, was taken up for final action.
The Ordinance was read, considered and on call of the roll,
passed by the following named members of the Board of Trustees:

Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
ORDINANCE NO. 203, entitled as follows:
"An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach amending
Section 13 of Ordinance No. 43 of said City and granting
the Standard Oil Company, a California Corporation, the
right to erect certain structures and transact certain
business upon designated lots in the City of Newport Beach,"
which was introduced and read the first time at the meeting of the Board
of Trustees held on the 24th day of April, was taken up for final action.
The Ordinance was read, considered and on call of the roll,
passed by the following named members of the Board of Trustees:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.

Trustee Conrad Richter introduced a proposed Ordinance
dividing the City into business and residential zones. The Ordinance
was ordered filed, considered, designated Ordinance No. 204 and referred
to the City Attorney.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and carried, the Clerk was instructed to procure a copy of the
suppliment to the General Laws of 1917, 1919 and 1921.
YMV BUSINESS.
The matter of sewer conr_eutions for Block 14 Balboa Tract and
Block 19 First Addition'to Newport Beach was referred to the Engineers
Office.
The renewal contract for our electric lamps was taken up, and
on motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee 0. H. Burke
and carried, the Clerk was authorized to enter into a contract with
Simberg Electric Co. for the Westinghouse Lamps.
The City Clerk was asked to see City Electrician Rodger and
have him report next Monday night on the changing over of the lighting
system before the paving is started.
The City Attorney was asked to draw up an Ordinance in regard
to covering the gas, water and electric lines before the paving is done.
The Clerk was asked to notify the Harbor Master to bring up his
records of correspondence with the Government as regards a light on the
end of the jetty, for the next meeting.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the Street Committee was authorized to put two
lights on the Washington Street pier the same as on the IJain Street
Wharf.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and carried, the matter of people driving on the sidewalk below
Main Street, Balboa was referred to the Police Department.
On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and.carried, the Clerk was instructed to correspond with the
Pacific Electric Officials in regard to piling boxes, etc. on the
sidewalk at Balboa.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee Conrad
Richter and carried, th-.t demands No. 844 to 978 inclusive having been
signed and approved by the Finance Committee, be allowed and warrants
drawn for same.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the - meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. M. On
Monday, Hay S. 1922.
