On motion of
Trustee
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. II. on above date. The .
'
meeting was called to order by President J. J. Schnitker.
Street
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The minutes of the adjourned meeting of May 18th were read and
ground,
approved.
The City Engineer presented, a table showing the amounts
the old
necessary for the various improvements to the wharf, and on motion of
Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried., a
meeting of the Officials and citizens was called for Saturday afternoon
May 27th at 2:00 o'clock to get the expression of the people as to the
'
work to be done and the amount to be spent on the wharf.
The City Attorney advised that the money left in the Wharf and
Pier fund of Municipal Improvement District No. 1 could not be diverted
by an election to other purposes, and could only be used in a sinking f
fund for the retirement of bonds and interest or invested in bonds.
The matter of enlarging the Comfort Station at Balboa was left
in the hands of Trustee H. C. Sloan and Treasurer Lei; H. Wallace with
power to act.
The communications were read and referred to the proper order
of business.

ORDINANCE NO. 207, entitled
"An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach amending
-Section l of Ordinance No. 200 and Sections 1 - 4 & 5 of
Ordinance No. 105 of said City,"
came up for final action, was read and considered; the roll
was called and the Ordinance passed by the vote of the following named
members of the Board of Trustees:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke. '
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
ORDINANCE N0. 208, entitled
"An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach amending
Section 3 of Ordinance No. 110 of said City,"
came up for final action, was read and considered; the roll
was called and the Ordinance passed by the vote of the following named
members of the Board of Trustees:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson the petition of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. to erect
certain poles in the City of Newport Beach. was granted on the following
vote.
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.
Noes, Trustees None.

and the Committee was also instructed to
remove the toilet from

in a gas holder upon the following vote:

The telegram from John L. Bacon, Mayor of San Diego asking the
Board to confirm House Bill No. 1149 covering flood control of the
Lower Colorado, was referred to the City Attorney to wire their
confirmation.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Goo. P.
Wilson and carried, the application for permit and license to operate
a lunch counter on part of Lots 10 and 11 of Block 12 Balboa Tract
was granted.
The communication from the Women's Civic League asking that
efforts be made to get a war vessel here for Memorial Day was read.,
and on motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee 0. H. Burke
and carried, the City Clerk was tasked to make a request upon authority
of the -Board of Trustees to have a war vessel here, and the Harbor I:Iaster
to meet them with a boat and pilot -them in.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Tr
rustee Conrad
Richter and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to write to the
Sims - Guedel Company and ask them to have Mr. Fisk, Ps. Stewart and Mr.
Sims bring in a map of the propesed district to be annexed at the next
meeting so that we can come to some understanding.
On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan, I:ir. A. J. Twist was appointed Publicity Agent for two months at
a salary of $125.00 per month by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Goo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke.

The Board of Trustees after holding proper meetings upon its
tentative report, filed its final report determining the boundaries of
a certain district and imposing regulations upon and segregating the
location of certain industries in the City of Newport Beach. A hearing
at which all persons particularly interested and the general public
would be afforded an opportunity to be heard was fixed for the hour of
2 o'clock P. I.I. of Saturday, May 27, 1922, in the council chamber of the
,Board of Trustees. The Clerk was directed to give notice of the tine
and place of such hearing by publication not less than once in the
Newport Neu✓s, a weekly newspaper published in the City of Newport Beach
and which newspaper was designated for that purpose.
The letter of idr. Grua to Mr. Ehrhorn in regard to conveying
some Bay Front property to the City i,as considered, and the matter was
referred to the City Ergineer for the proper data to arrange the
conveyance.
On motion of Trustee Goo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C .
Sloan and carried, the Bond of Byron Hall as City Recorder was approved.
J. J. Schnitker being one of the sureties did not vote.

On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan, the resignation of 0. H. Burke_as City Trustee vras accepted with
sincere regret of the Board, by the affirmative vote of the remaining
members.
The resignation of 0. H. Burke having been accepted the
President declared the office vacant. r
On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo.
Wilson, Pr. Laurence S. Wilkinson was appointed to fill the unexpired
term of 0. H. Burke. A ballot was taken resulting in four Uotes cast
for L. S. Wilkinson.
The President thereupon declared L. S. Wilkinson appointed to
fill. the unexpired term of 0. H. Burke resigned.

camp ground was placed in the hands of the City Marshal with power to

The President appointed Trustee L. S. Wilkinson chairman of
the Finance Committee and a member of the Fire & Water Committee,
The City Iriarshal was asked to have an old unpassed ordinance
in regard to parking vehicles in the streets at the next meeting.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. M. on
Monday, IrSay 29, 1922.

Pursuant to a call thereof by the President of the Board of
Trustees, and notice delivered to each member at least three hours before
the time specified for the meeting, the Board of Trustees met at the
place and on the date above mentioned. at 2:00 o'clock P. I.T. The
meeting was called to order by President J. J. Schnitker.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The call was read and the Board proceeded to consider the
subject for which the meeting was called.
Trustee H. C. Sloan introduced an Ordinance amending
certain sections of Ordinance No. 110 and adding certain new sections
thereto; the Ordinance was ordered filed, read, considered, designated
Ordinance No. 209, and passed to the second reading and submitted to
the City Attorney.
The meeting then adjourned.
