The matter of abandonment of the alley along the Tibbets property
in Block 119 was discussed, and on motion of Trustee L. S. Vlilainson
seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the necessary proceedings
for the abandonment of the alley were to be started.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and carried, the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on
the dredging for which the bonds were sold in Municipal Improvement
District No. 1, the copy for same to be furnished by the City Engineer.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to proceed with the
necessary steps to have the condemnation proceedings under way for the
' Southern Pacific Wharf and right -of -way.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo.P.
Wilson and carried, the President was asked to appoint a committee
consisting of the City Treasurer and one member of the Board to get an
appraisement of the land of the Pacific Ranch Co. across which our pipe
line noes, and to make them an offer on same.
The Committee appointed is Lew H. Wallace and H. C. Sloan.
The City Attorney reported that Mr. Naughton stated the
Contractor putting in the pipe line was driving across the ranchers
crops, and on motion of Trustee Geo. P. 17ilson seconded by Trustee H.C.
Sloan and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to investigate the
statements made and report at the next meeting.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P, Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the request of L:r. Porter for ;150.00 clerk hire in
getting out the tax bills was allowed.
On motion of Trustee L. S. ;Wilkinson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P.i:. of 1onday,
October 23, 1922.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock ?.P.,. on above date. The
meeting was called to order by President J. J. Schnitker.
The roll was called showing the full Board present.
The pinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. I- Vilson seconded by Trustee L.S.
Wilkinson and carried, the report of Harbor Liaster Beek was referred
back to him to see that the house boat of Isir. Burge is anchored far
enough out to float at all times.
' This being the time fixed for opening bids for the construction
of a pump house at the pumping plant, the Board, in open session publicly
opened, examined and declared all sealed bids received for said work,
to -wit:
J. Simon Fluor, for complete job, - - - - - - - - 012,230,00
Ellsworth Bros. & Son, " " - - - - - - - - 2,622.00
Frank H. Greene, Incomplete " - - - - - - - - 1,647.00
And thereupon the bids were referred to the City Engineer for
report.
The City Engineer reported favorable on the bid of J. Simon Fluor
and on motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. ?. 1.7ilson,
all bids-were rejected except the one from J. Simon Fluor and he was
awarded the contract for building the pump house, and all checks of
unsuccessful bidders to be returned, the sa_c:e being carried by the
following vote:

The communications were read and referred to the pr6per order
of business.
The four resolutions prepared by the League of California
Nunicipalities against �_mendments No. 10, 11, 27 and 30 on the ballot
were taken up, and on motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by
Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the resolutions v ✓ere adopted by the
Board and Caere to be Siven publicity in the Newport News and Newport -
Balboa Bulletin.
ORDINANCE NO. 173, entitled as follows:
'
"An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Newport Beach designating the name by which a certain
publics street in Block 21 of Newport Beach shall be known
and called,"
was taken up for final consideration and read, the roll was
called and the Ordinance passed by the vote of the following named
members of the Board of Trustees:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Use. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, L. S. Iffilkinson.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
ORDINANCE NO. 185, entitled as follows:
"An Ordinance of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Newport Beach declaring vacant for public street purposes
a certain portion of 24th Street within said City,"
was taken up for final consideration and read, the roll was
called and. the Ordinance passed by the vote of the following named
members of the Board of Trustees:
Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Wilson,
Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson.
Noes, Trustees None.
Absent, Trustees None.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee ueo.P.

Wilson and carried, the deed of ulenn helms coverinG a strip off from
Lot 1 in Block 224 of Section A was accepted and to be properly recorded.

On motion of Trustee Geo. P. lufilson seconded by Trustee H.C.
Sloan and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids
on the new City Bridge, the copy to.be prepared by the City Engineer.

Trustee L. S. Wilkinson introduced a resolution entitled as
follows:
"A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Nevrcort Beach declaring that the public interest and the
public convenience require, and that it is the intention of
said Board of Trustees of said City to order certain work
done or improvement made, describing the work and improvement,
the land deemed necessary to be taken therefor, and specifying
the,jexterior boundaries of the district of land to be effected
or benefitted by said work and improvement, and to be assessed
to pay the damages, costs and expenses thereof.
The resolution was ordered filed, read, considered, designated
Resolution No. 207 and referred to the City Attorney for consideration.
The City Engineer made a -report of the estimated cost of a
wooden bridge across the Rivo Alto on 36th Street as follows:
Viooden Bridge with common piling, - - - - - - - - s ?3,9II3.70
.Wooden Bridge with creosote piling, - - - - - - 4,358.00
The matter was discussed and on motion of Trustee L. S.
Wilkinson seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the matter of the
bridge was referred to the Street Committee and City Engineer to report
on later.
On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the matter of sewer connections at the Camp around
was referred to the City Engineer to see about bringing it up to grade
so that we can obtain bids for making the sewer connections.

The matter of'enlargement of the toilets at Balboa waa discussed,
and on motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson
and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to draw up plans and
specifications for a two story building for a combined toilet and Fire
Engine House and to make an estimate on selling the old buildings.
On motion of Trustee Y. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P.
Wilson and carried, ,;250.00 was set aside out of the Advertising fund
for advertising purposes at Fullerton on Armistice Day in the interest
of Newport Beach and Balboa.
On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to notify the Adver-
tising Committee of the two Chambers of Commerce that it is the unanimous
opinion of the Board that they get together and arrange a pamphlet for
presentation to the Board.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo.P.
Wilson and carried, the Board authorized the Water Superintendent and
City Engineer to make the necessary purchase of electric motors needed
for the sewer system.
On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee L. S.
Wilkinson and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P.I on
idonday, October 30, 1922.

Trustee E. C. Sloan introduced a resolution finding and
determining that the public interest and necessity requires the acqui-
sition by the City of Newport Beach of a public improvement consisting
of that certain irharf located in the City of Newport Beach at approxi-
mately the southerly side of Ocean Avenue near its junction with Coast
