The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on above date. The meeting was called to order by President J. J. Sciuzitker. The roll was called showi= the full Board present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The communications were read and referred to the proper order of business. ORDINANCE 3'0. 246, entitled as follows: An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach calling and providing for the holding of a special election for the purpose of submitting to the Electors of the City of Diewport Beach pursuant to the referendum, Ordinance No. 242, and pursuant to the initiative a proposed ordinance of said City, came up for final passage; was read, considereq, the roll wa. called and Ordinance No. 246 was passed by the vote of the following named members of the Board of Trustees; was signed and approved by the President thereof and attested by the Clerk: Aye$, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. Nilson, 'Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson. Noes, Trustees None. Absent, Trustees None. ORDINANCE 110. 247, entitled as follows: An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach creating a City Planning Commission for said City, came up for final action; -uas read, considered, the roll was called and Ordinance No. 247 was passed by the vote of the following named members of the Board of Truatees; was signed and approved by the President thereof and attested by the Clerk: Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Geo. P. 1.7ilson, Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson. Noes, Trustees None. Absent, Trustees None. This having been the time set for hearing protests in regard to vacating certain portions of Coast Boulevard betirreen 26th and 30th Streets, and protestants having appeared and stated their objections, further hearing was continued to the 29th day of October,, 1923, at 7:30 o'clock p.m. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans for the sewer system on Balboa island to present to the Board at the next meeting so they can advertise for bids on same. On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, a Eap of Tract No. 427 of Newport Heights coming within the three mile limit of the City, was approved. On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee L.S. Cilkinson and carried, the matter of vacating a portion of Santa Ana Avenue for the purpose of straightening same was referred to the City Attorney. On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to notify* the si¢ners of the petition to have a sidewalk laid and the alley flirted in Block 8 of Sections 2 and 3 of Balboa Island, that it would take -% longer and cost them more to have proceedings put. through by the City than to do it by private contract. The application of R. H. Summers for building a landing pier eras laid over awaiting the approval of the City Engineer. Levi H. Wallace stated he had vrord from E-r. t:7. ',7. Crosier that he would take X1,750.00 for the triangular piece for a depot., and he was going to take up the matter with the Railroad Officials of using only part of it. There being no further business on motion of Trustee L. S. !ilkinson seconded by Trustee I1. C. Sloan and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock p.m. on Monday, October 29, 1923.
