Trustees Richter presented and mc:oved the adoption of Resolution
No.293 entitled, "A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Newport Beach directing certain work or improvement to be done under the
direction of the City Engineer of said City ", which motion was seconded by T� --
Trustee Sloan, and carried by the following vote:
Ayes; Trustees, Wilson, Sloan, Young, Richter and Wilkinson.
Noes. Trustees, None.
Absent Trustees, None.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by trustee Young, and ca rried
the meeting was adjourned to the 25th day of.August , 1924 at 7;30 P.M.

The Board of Trustees, City of Newport Beach, m&t in regular session
on the above date, at 7;30 P.Pd. The meeting was called to order by
Pres. Geo. P.Wilson, The Roll was called showing the full board present
with the exception of Trustee Young.
Communications were read and referred to the proper order of business.
On motion of Trustee Richter seconded by trustee Sloan, and carried,
the Street Superintendent was instructed to order the Fulkerson people to
immediately apply for permit to cut the curb at their property and to
immediately establish a crossing as called for by City Ordinance.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried,
Resolution #294 was adopted by roll call the trustees voting in the
following manner: Ayes; Trustees Wilson,Sloan, Young Richter and Wilkinson
Noes; None Absent None.
A communication was received from Mr. Hancock Banning and after some
discussion a committee of Trustee Sloan, Trustee Young, S. A. Cundiff
and Lew H.Wallace was appointed to Meet with Mr. Banning.
A cormunication was received from the Sims Gudell Co. regarding
a.reservoir site on Corona Del Mar. Owing to the absence of Attorney
Bishop the matter was laid over to Sept 8 ,1924 and the Clerk instructed
to write.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by trustee Sloan and carried
complaint. of E.G.Smith of Los Angeles regarding the calling of wares
early in the morning, was referred to City Marshall J.A.Porter.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by trustee Richter, carried
application to transfer Liscense No.329 -330 to John Stuckenbruck was granted.
This being the time fixed for 1pening bids for certain work o8
certain portions of McFadden Place and 21dt Street as contemplated by
Resolution of Intention N. 289 of this Board, the Board in open session
publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed bids received for
said work, to -wit:
E. M. Burris for 8" concrete pavement including grading per sqft. 420
E. M. Burris for concrete curbing complete including Grdg, linealft.68¢
68L Lee R.Weber for 8" concrete pavement including grading per sqft. 42�

AND THEREUPON, said bids were referred to the City Engineer for
checking and report.
The City Engineer reported JLks H.H.Peterson, the lowest bidder for the
-work to be done on certain portions of McFadden Pland and 21st Street
and thereupon Trustee Sloan presented Resolution No.294, entitled "A
Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach awarding the
contract for certain woek on certain portions of McFadden Place and 21st St.
within said City" and seconded by Trustee Young said Resolution was adopted
ty the following vote: Ayes Trustees Wilson, Sloan,Richter Young and Wilkinson
Noes Trustees, None Absent Trustees, None.

A communication from Walter Bu ris regarding Lot 21 Block 30
Newport Beach Tract was read and on motion of Trustee Sloan seconded by
Trustee Wilkinson was ordered filed.
A communication from the Balboa Chamber of Commerce calling attention
to broken pipe and other derbris along the bay was referred to the
Harbor Master with instructions that it be removed.
President, Geo. P.Wilson brougnt to the attention of the board,,
the matter of a Defense Day Porgram and appointed a committee to
make arrangements for same.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried
Demand #171 for $1000.00 was ordered drawn, for the 1st payment on the
new Public Library ,
The matter of a lamp post on private property as alleged by
Mr.Henry of Balboa was referred to City Attorney.Clyde Bishop for
investigation.
At the request of City Marshall J.A.Porter on motion of Trustee
Sloan seconded by Rrustee Wilkinson and carried W.Park Cooper was app-
ointed to investigate the Sea Wall at the end of Island avenue at the
request of Mr. Erhorn of that vicinity.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Sloan, and carri,_
the maeting was adjourned. Sine Die.
