The Board of Trustees, of the city of Newport Beach, met in regular
session-on the abo: -e date. The meeting was called to Order by President
Geo. P.Wilson. The roll.uas called shoeing the full board present. The
minutes of t;le previous meeting we-re read and on motion of trustee Vil inson,
seconded by trustee Young and carried, were approved as read.
Re ports of heads of departments here read and on motion of trustee
Wilkinson seconded.by trustee Sloan, and carried, were approved and ordered
filed.

Tr- ustee.':''ilkinson introduced an ordinanee.entitled : as "follocrs:
An Ordinance amending Ordinance.No.5 of the city of. Newport Beach
providing shat officers of said city shall sign licenses issued
thereby, and repealing that portion_ of any ordinance in conflict
therewith.
The Ordinance was ordered filed, bead, considered, designated Ordinance No.
273 and referred to the city attorney. ,
The City Planning Commission of the city of Newport Beach, as re-
quired by the.Board of Trustees ,having made its tentative report recomraeding
a district concerning the devilopment of.oil and regulatins .o be enforced
therein, duly gave notice of and held a public.meeting thereon, and having
now filed its final report:
It was ordered that a public meeting be held at the Comzcil Chamber
of Vie Board of Tr ustees in the City Hall of the Gity of Newport Beach
-at the hour of 7:30 P.M. of -Monday, the 19th day of January,1925; that all
persons particularly interested and the general public be afforded an
opportunity 'to be heard.
That notice of the time and place of said meeting be published
onee in t':e NEt7PORT NEWS, a weekly newspaper o£ eneral circulation printed
published, and circulaed in the city of Newport beach, and designated for
t' -.at purpose. The said. publication to be within the creep within which said
meeting is to be held.
The tine within which to matte protests and objections to the closing
up of "L" Street, as described in Resolution of Intention No.301 of the
City of Necrport Teach, and Culkir_s, Hagar, Hall and Linforth, having, with in
the time provided by lacy, duly filed with the Clerk written objections, and
the same being,-r ese-ted to the Board of Trustees at its meeting on the 5th
day of January,1925'it was ordered that the time for hearing said objections
be fixed at the ha.,.r of 7:30 P.T.Q. of Monday, the 19th day of January,1925,
at the council chamber in the City Hall in said city, and the Clerk required
to give notice by depositing a notice of the time and place of hearing in
the Host office ila'tht city of Newport Beach, p->stage prepaid, addressed to
the objectors.
This being the time fixed for opening bids for certain work on
certain ,ortions of Coast Boulev• -rd and certain other streets, avenu es and
alleys .iithin said city, and certain property and reights- of-way owned
by said city, as con'.emplated by Resolution of Intention N4.304 of t'iis
Board, the Board:in open session publicly opened, examined and declared all
sealed bids received for said work, to -wit.

The Bids were referred to the City Engineer to report January 7,1925
at 7:30 o1clock P.M.
FCR BALBOA ISLAND PROCEEDINGS.
Trustee Sloan presented and moved the adoption of Resolution '
NO.310 entitled, "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Newport Beach ddopting specifications No.37 for the construction.of
a `.`later Distribution System for domestic supply and fire protection, and
an)urtenances thereto, with in the city of Newport Beach" which motions
was seconded by trustee Richter, and carried by the eollowing vote.
Ayes: Trustees, Geo.P.Wilson, H. -I. Sloan, Fred 7T.young, Conrad
Richter and L.S.°:lilkinson.
Noes: Trustees, None.
Absent: Truatees, None.
Trustee Richter presented and moved the adoption of Resolution
NO.311 entitled, "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Newport Beach adopting certain plans for the improvement of certain
portions of Park Avenue and certain other streets and alleys on Balboa
Island, ithin said City which motion was seconded by Trustee - Sloan and
carried by the following vote:

Noes: Trustees, None.
Absent: Trustees, None,
Trustee Wilkinson presented and moved the adoption of Resolution
No.312 entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport
Beach declaring its intention to order the improvement cf Park Avenue '
and certain other streets and avenues on Balboa Island, within said City
under the Improvement Act of 1911, and the Amendments to said Act" which
motion was seconded by Trustee Sloan and carried by the folla* ring vote.

Conrad Richter and L.S.?'iilR1nson.
Noes: Trustees, None.
Absent: Trustees, None.
Mr. 71. ^.Burris, in a corm.iunication to the Board asked for the
exclusive listing (90) days for the sale o. Lot 1, Block 22 Newport Beach.
The matter was referred to t rkgx� trustees Sloan and Wilkinson for
report at the next meeting.
Application of Ben Cope to erect a pier on lot 1. Block 20 of East
Side Addition to Balboa Tract, was referred to City Engineer Yres sly for
the usual two weeks. The letter from the Builders Exchange regarding stand-
ardization of the building, code, was ordered filed and the clerk instructed
to request the committee to give notice earlier next tine.
Fire Chief A.17.Jackson renewed his request for more supplies for,the
Newport Bea--h sire Department and after some discussion, 'the matter was
referref to the cmniiittee as ,& whole .'or report.
A petition was presented requesting the Board to nave Section Five
of Balboa Island. The petition was read and ordered, filed.
Mr. !'!.C.Burris brought up the matter of opening the 31st Street
Cmoss:_ng. The matter was discussed and referred to the City Engineer.
Mir. E.B.Cubbon asked the Board to take sorie ad tion on the straightent'
of Coast Boulev!rd at 30th St. The matter -eras laid over to the next meeting
City 1.1arshall Porter suggested that the Board take steps to install
a life boat at the end of the Newport Pier. The matter was referred to
Pair. S.A.Cundiff for investigation of cost ect.
On motion of Trustee 1.7ilkinson, seconded by trustee Sloan and carried,
the demands were allowed and warrants ordered drawn.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned to t.Tednesda.
